This really sucks. Now there will be next to no CFL radio coverage in Southern Ontario.

Same goes for TSN radio in Winnipeg and Vancouver.

I just commented on the lack of coverage on the five TSN TV stations of the beginning of CFL free agency raising the question of how much attention, the CFL's broadcaster going to pay to it. I think fans should start emailing protests before things go even further downhill.

Bell is taking an axe to its TV and radio operations. It seems pretty evident that fans complaining about CFL coverage being reduced will have no more luck than fans of Dan O'Toole, Howard Levitt, etc. Hopefully Bell does not also cut ties to Naylor and Lalji.

It's a drag to lose TSN 1150 although it really had only the three-hour morning show as far as original programming goes. I personally could not stand listening to one of its two hosts, but the show was hugely CFL-centric. Between this and the continuing ratings decline of the Fan 590, sports talk radio in this country may be nearing an end.

TSN has exclusive CFL radio rights as well. CFL should have held them to a guaranteed level of service.

Maybe in 5 years when this deal is up.

Listened to Marsh & Melo this morning, they were supposed to host a CFL draft show from 12:00-3:00pm today.
Thought something was up when I tuned in to Bloomberg radio.
Too bad, they actually took interest and offered good coverage of the CFL.

Back in the “ Golden Era” of the Fan590 I have so many great memories. Defeating Don Landry at “Lunch Bag Let Down”....being a regular caller to Hoagie on the “ Bull Pen”.... Hoagie and Chris Schultz hosting “ Football Fridays”.....Pat Marsden....Shakey Hunt.....

Yeah, loved all those shows and guys. My first ever call in was to Shakey talking Argos. Of course, there was no social media, internet was scarce, I relied on the Hamilton Spectator for all my sports news. Different era.

I have been predicting 1150’s doom for a little while now. I was really surprised they made it through the pandemic, when very little sports were played. I was expecting them to go dark one random morning, but they kept on going talking about whatever, until sports made a comeback. Seems silly to let them go now after keeping them on all this time.

Back in the day when the on air talent was actually quite likeable.

Very bad for the CFL in southern Ontario. It was the go to for CFL talk because they don't do it on 1050.
The CFL is paying the price for having one single broadcaster.

According to something I saw online, TSN 1150 was reaching only 26,000 listeners a week. No way they could make much ad revenue from that. It sucks not to have that voice in the market, but business realities always decide these things. It makes less sense, IMO, in Wpg and Vcr where the stations were attracting far more listeners; perhaps they were trending downward. COVID is not the only factor here, but I would bet it is one factor, and we will probably seem more media carnage in the weeks and months to come.
