Figure this should have it's own thread.

Whining and crying already evident from some CFL fans - Argos must be over-paying / way over the cap.

If they are, I have no problem with it. 🙂

Fascinating to me: there is a huge concern with some CFL fan bases over "reported" CFL $$$ figures - player contract #s and teams losing million$; for a league that is not exactly able to pay million$ for players or anything close to buying all the best talent ? Like a bunch of old ladies at their $ewing club, gossiping and whining.

A way to rationalise and make excuses for your homer team not able to win enough Grey Cups? Before a CFL $M$, it was all about the cheating EE Evil Empire or big bad Eastern Argos over-paying and stealing the best talent - so unfair; and post SMS it became a "ratio problem" with no talent Canadian players / back-up O-linemen extorting huge CFL buck$ from hapless CFL GMs - if only we could have loaded up on all that superstar American talent sitting around waiting to play in the CFL for cheap instead of that nuisance ratio forcing us to pay no talent Canadian scrubs huge money.

Interesting / amusing, IMO .

What a great signing! We now have the two top Canadians in the league. The defense is shaping up to be an extremely strong unit. Dare I say, the best D in the league? With Law and Hughes at DE, Nevis at DT and Muamba and Judge at LB, along with some of the other strong players recruited on defense, this is truly an exciting D.

Can't wait for training camp to open.

Which makes this signing even better!👍

The fact that John Murphy is involved completely pisses a certain fan base off which only adds to the satisfaction!

He learned from the best with Jones in Regina.

Good point about cheating. Rules and championships evolved through sportsmanship and honor. Stacking the deck in ones favor leads to hollow victories imo.

Start with the Adam Bighill contract but it is only one of many shady deals that ruin it for everyone. It's to the point now that the accountant is the real team mop.

If they ever want to be taken seriously, integrity is a start on that.

I believe you mis-construed my sarcasm there. CFL teams are not even close to being able to just $pend/cheat their way to championships and IMO that was never a real issue in a league where smart GMs & coaches can easily beat teams that have a few more bucks to spend.

Certain fans cry-babying and gossiping about CFL $$$ issues (like player salaries or team supposed debt) is a joke, especially when they don't know real figures and are going by gossip and questionable reporting. In other words - IMO - mind your own frickin' business about what the players are making or the team's finances and STFU and watch the actual football game and quit being a sore loser if your team doesn't win every game.

There will be subtractions, but this feels like the last major addition to the roster. Does anyone feel brave enough to project the starting lineup?

Insider Talk on 3DN reports an anonymous quote that Muamba signed for $90,000. Sweet deal for the Argos.

Similar to Tom Brady and the boys in Tampa playing for less possibly. Totally illogical in any other way.

Nothing similar at all. Whereas Brady signed exactly where he wanted to and got a pay raise from his last Pats contract, Muamba likely didn't receive any offers, or priced himself out of the market and had to come down significantly. when other teams had filled their rosters. I'm guessing he cost himself quite a bit of money by not re-signing with Montreal before he hit free agency. Gambled on himself and lost. Great break for the Argos though.

Great break for the Argos; but IMO real, real dumb move by Maciocia in Montreal - to let go a premier D player in the league on an up and coming team; and after Muamba had said he wished he could stay there and Vernon Adams had lauded him as a great leader and team-mate. Not like Muamba was going to be asking for 200K plus from the Als in these times(i don't know of course and never trust CFL $M$ figures gossip) so Maciocia cheaped-out probably to save 20 or 30K ??? Wonder how much he is paying that stiff of a back-up QB Shiltz there? (anything over league minimum is way too much).

I don't disagree with anything you are saying. I was just saying to compare the circumstances to Tom Brady signing in Tampa couldn't be further off. Argos caught a huge break, and quite a steal of a signing.

My point was the idea of taking less to play with good players as Tom Brady has done for much of his career. He could be a $50 million man on his own. Other guys take less to play with Tom Brady. I also did say possibly.

Pinball has been promoting the home town team concept since he was handed the keys. No one else offering Muamba fair value is just more of the latest batch of collusion they are cooking up. BC is paying Lamar Durant $180,000 in comparison. Cory Greenwood must be at league minimum with Calgary for them not to be interested.

6 other teams could use Muamba but good for the Argos. He is a heck of a player and will help Robbie Smith and Kwemo learn the game. Not arguing, just saying. Something is up with that deal.

Another hometown player for the Argos, I love it! I also appreciated reading about his interaction with Pinball when he was younger and now gets a chance to be on the same team!
