So it's one QB against his old team versus another QB against his old team.

I feel Jyles o-line will have trouble with Jones pressure defence thus forcing him to run around....very ineffective night for Edmontons's offense in a loss.

And if Joseph has to come into the game, which is not beyond the realm of possibility, your statement will still be true.

It is going going to be odd seeing Jyles in Green and Gold instead of Double Blue, something no one would expect to see.

Hope we get after him bigtime with our D flying around. Wouldn't hurt for him to toss a couple easy picks our way as well. We better win.

We have played well in Edmonton the last two years winning in 2010 and losing a close one last year that we absolutely should not have lost and in both games we were facing Ricky Ray.

Oh yah the famous end of the first half last year with Edmonton getting a huge gift of time and plays.

The Esks have apparently spent 75% of their training camp preparing for Saturday's game, even holding Jyles out of preseason so the Argos couldn't get any film on him. This is a HUGE game for Edmonton so hopefully Ricky Ray and the Argos will be equally as motivated.

When your correspondent asked Reed how he could defend giving a lacking-in-confidence Jyles just over a quarter of pre-season game play, the sophomore head coach defended it.

“The things we are going to do on Saturday, we did in practice. You can’t simulate game situations, but we were very efficient in practice and Steven got more than 70% of the reps with the first team offence.
Reed did say prior to the start of training camp that he planned to take a highly unusual path of preparation prior to the start of the season, that it would involved 75% preparation for The Ricky Ray game and 25% of normal training camp.

“We are confident in the game plan we have. We have been working on it since spring. There was a reason, or a method to our madness, as to why we did not play as many snaps with Steven Jyles at quarterback.”

The element of surprise?

Steven Jyles playing well would shock the spit out of the Argos.

We'll be fine - a quick start by our offence plays right into our pressure defence and gets Jyles or Joseph to start forcing the ball downfield - best case scenario for us given their accuracy issues. Just get out of Edmonton with the W - whether it's ugly or not is irrelevent.

This is quite the understatement. Does anybody think it's possible that Jyles and Joseph could beat the Argos? Wouldn't any team with those two bums at QB be destined for last place?

I don't think that either of those QBs are as bad as they looked in Toronto. However, Joseph is getting up there in age and was never better than average IMO. I would hope that we could beat those two but anything can happen in games when you factor in turnovers, penalties, etc.

The first mistake in attacking your opponent is to underestimate them. I am neither a fan of Jyles or Joseph but they are capable of playing well in spurts.
