Its great that Canadians are getting more invites down south then just the Shrine Game. I wonder who will get invited to the Shrine game? I hope Tre Ford gets an invite somewhere.

That list above you provided doesn't show all the Canadians invited (the link does though); seems like almost everybody on the CFL Scouting Bureau's top 20 list is going to one of those games - maybe CFL push to get their prospects invited - which is nice to see.

The CFL should (have a long time ago) instituted their own version of an all-star draft prospects game - U Sports all-stars + Canucks playing in US college ball. Hold it at the Big Owe or BC Place - in a dome for good conditions late in the season - hold it a week or 3 after the GC for a finale to the Canadian football season. The U Sports East _West Bowl - in the spring - is OK, but not enough, and wrong time of year, plus such a game should include US college ball Canadians who could show up (if they arent in Bowl games down there i guess).

Yup, they keep adding names. I have to wait a month for them to freeze rosters. Maybe 3downnation will come up with a summary article in the coming days. Great all those Canadian, especially U Sports athletes are getting a US look.

This is cool. U Sports quarterbacks going to Cajun Bowl. My guess is that these two QB will get invited to the CFL Combine too.

QB Tanner Dejong Carleton

QB Tre Ford Waterloo

Also:

RB Dawson Odei Ottawa

RB JP Cimankinda, Ottawa

Really good to see. Wondering, does the NFL fund these games? It would make sense as they exercise every opportunity to see talent.

The NFL does not fund any of the games. The NFLPA does own the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Some of these all-star "games" now I believe are just scouting exercises - with drills and testing or interviews - rather than an actual football game; not sure which of these games fall into that category, but when you see so many names on an invite list, you have to think no way they can dress that many guys for a game.

Love to see those U Sports QBs get an actual shot to play in a game (there have been Canadian players from CIS ball invited to the East/West Shrine all-star game down there for decades now, and never once has a QB got the call; usually linemen, rather than "skill" players). Ford is an obvious choice at QB; not sure how Dejong would get the call over Dueck from Mac or Nyhus (Sask. Huskies) ?

I heard the Canada Football Perspective guys gush about Dejong. They said he was best passer in the OUA. Never got to watch him play because he injured his ankle mid season. Maybe I need to watch Carleton's first game of the season on OUA TV. Maybe this is why they are inviting so many Canadians to the Cajun bowl:D

Ca·jun

noun

noun: Cajun; plural noun: Cajuns

a member of any of the largely self-contained communities in the bayou areas of southern Louisiana formed by descendants of French Canadians, speaking an archaic form of French.

Interesting. It looks like Ted is the older brother of Daniel, who just won rookie of the year in the CJFL while playing for the Langley Rams. I wonder if Daniel will follow Ted to UBC at some point.

There seem to be a lot of talented brothers in the amateur ranks these days: Tre and Tyrell Ford, Jalen and Tyson Philpot, Colton and Bret Hunchak (now both pros), Ted and Daniel Kubongo.

Wonder why the Canada West player has not been named yet; I'll bet on one of the big O-Linemen who are on the CFL Scouting Bureau top 20 list.

I think the Shrine is only inviting one Canadian this year.

Canadians I can recognise at College Gridiron Showcase. Maybe some NCAA Canadians I missed.

Nope - only Canuck i recognize.

Leonard was drafted by the Ticats last year; he might get an NFL look? Ticats likely treat him as a depth DB rather than giving him a real shot to start at corner.

Good on 3 Down's JC Abbott to get down there to cover that event.

Vilain might draw some NFL interest now = not good for the Argos

Interesting; I could find no mention of Knight in a number of Shrine game reports i read; saw he measured at 6-3, 276; could see a CFL team viewing him as a versatile guy who could play reps at both DE & DT with that size. BC need help on the D-Line IMO, and he might be a good 1st (overall ?) pick for them ?

I usually watch the Shrine Game to get a look at the Canadian guys there, plus you see some other US college ball stars who might make it up to the CFL (Vernon Adams had about the best Shrine Game performance I can recall; Jesse Lumsden really impressed as well) Missed the game last Thurs. evg. - on the NFL Network. Senior Bowl was today - i think Jesse Luketa - LB from Ottawa via Penn State - was the only Canadian there ?

You got to check twitter feeds. Here's one article:

https://phillysportsnetwork.com/2022/02/04/eagles-handbook/DL | Deionte Knight – University of Western Ontario As a fellow Mustang, and Canadian, it was awesome to see Knight light up the stage. Every snap, he looked like he had been shot out of a cannon. Always the first one out of his stance, the East team were forced to throw screens in behind him just to avoid a sack (https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/02/04/sports/andovers-ej-perry-named-offensive-mvp-east-west-shrine-bowl/). The best player in USPORTS looks like a legitimate draft candidate. He’s quick, he’s long and at 6’4″, 275 lbs, he can play multiple positions along the defensive line.

Your going to see a record number of Canadian players get at least a mini-camp invite this draft cycle. There could be close to 30 players including those from last years draft. I'm hoping we can get the second and third tier guys into camp this season.
