Hot-head Chris Edwards was involved; hope they charge the clown Ticat fans

I agree that those fans are ridiculous and give all football fans a bad name because of it but Edwards cannot do what he did. Completely unacceptable. It's like having Robert Baker back!

I hope the team and league are going to look into this incident further. The video that was posted doesn't give much context and was presented to put Edwards in the worst possible light, but that said it isn't the first time he's been involved in extra-curriculars this year and that is a headache I may not want on my team.

Rumour has it that beer (or spit) was thrown at the players, hence the retaliation.

Does anyone know what John Murphy yelling, at some Ti-cats personnell at the center of the field, was about at the end of the game?

I didn't see it, and don't know anything about it, but what we saw from Ticats players near and at the end of the game was one of the most classless displays I can remember. Not just celebrating their win but pointing a lot of fingers in their opponents' faces. Murphy might have taken exception to some of that garbage.

Hence I hope Winnipeg kick the living piss out of them next week.

Has Josh written an article yet criticizing his own fans like he did criticizing the Raptors fiasco?

Seems there were two separate incidents? The spitting or beer throwing wasn't filmed. The Ticat dooface came in afterwards I think.

I will defend Edwards actions here. It is so easy for anyone to say he should have had more control over the situation, because those saying that have never been in that position. First of, you are pissed off over the loss. Then someone spits beer at you, yeah, I can say I would have reacted the exact same way he did.

Yes sir, a good old fashion punch in the mouth would teach imbeciles like this a lesson in how to act in public.

Agreed, to some degree; would rather it had been a couple of Argo fans punching out some clown, big-mouth Ticats fans; with the players standing around laughing and taking pictures on their phones; rather than the players made out like hot-heads or sore losers or bad guys. Again - like to see that Ticat clown/fan shown in the one video I saw, get charged with assault or something and fined - a double punch in the mouth would work even better

I didn't know about this situation until my son told me a few hours after the game. My son's friend was a direct eyewitness to the incident with an accompanying video to show the provocation from the Ticats fan. Given the outcome of the game and behaviour of some of the fans and players during and after the game, it is not surprising that something like this would have happened.

We can condemn Edwards retaliation all we want but too often in today's society, people are not taking full responsibility for their actions. Perhaps Edwards actions may make the person think twice about doing such action the next time he tries this nonsense. In this case, Edwards would be fully justified for his actions.

John Murphy might be in trouble as well.

It looks like a huge part of the problem here was fans being where they had no business being.

Look at this video and again think twice before blaming Edwards for what happened. Beer cans being thrown at Argos players leaving the field minding their own business and Ti-Cats “fans” starting fights. Utter Neanderthals.

EDIT: Sorry guys, there was another video of just under 6 minutes long which I saw on facebook group CFL chatter. It was at the link above, but appears to have been taken down. It shows a bunch of Cats fans throwing cans at Argos players as they were walking back to the tunnel, and when confronted by Martez Ivey, a Cats fan jumped the barrier and started a fight. The video continues to show fights provoked just outside the gates by other Ti-Cats fans. F them.

Yep major fail on security. The stands should have been lined with some security as you just know they'd start throwing stuff. Ivey shouldn't have turned back. And I hope the idiot that jumped the fence gets fined/charged to the max.
I assume they use more security next year for Ticat visits and a canopy!

I think the Argos need to become the bad boys of the CFL. And I'm not kidding. Let the entire league and it's whiny fans just hate the Argos.

Again, it's easy for anyone not in that position to say he shouldn't have turned back. When you are emotional like that after a loss and people are throwing things are you, it's human nature to go back. Anyone that says they would have turned the other cheek honestly has no idea what they would do in that situation, because it's never happened to them.

I should have clarified, he shouldn't have gone back....but I don't blame him at all. It's one thing to get treated like that at another teams stadium, but at your home stadium is too much.

Not sure if anyone heard the interview Jim Tatti did this past Saturday with Anthony Calvillo on his show Yes Guy. It's a good listen, but specifically at the 34:30 mark of the interview at the below link, AC tells a story about his time in Hamilton which says all there is to say regarding some of their neanderthal fan base.

That is quite the story! I recall that Calvillo gave Ticats fans an obscene gesture in 1997 when they were giving him a hard time. I don't think those three years in Hamilton were very kind to him.

I covered the league extensively in those days and got to know AC a bit. He was one of the better guys that I dealt with (in a league where there were very few questionable characters IMO). I saw the abuse that AC received from the fans on more than one occasion after games and felt sorry for him. When I asked him about this abuse, he was very professional and level headed about it. This made me respect him more and I was pleased when he moved to a much more professional situation at the time in Montreal.

Nice find Gabe. Sounds like Acheampong was hit near the eye by a thrown object. Players reactions were justified IMO.

Looks like Juwan Brescacin has been trying to get in touch with the kid in that video that was pushed up against the fence because of the Ti-Cats fans to make sure the kid is ok. An Argo fan (rightfully) calls out Ti-Cats and Bob Young for continuing to be silent. Shows how much class they carry IMO.

Yep, after that 6 min video came out, there's been nothing from Bob Young or the organization that I know of. How they haven't publicly condemned the behaviour of a small portion of their fans for ignorant behaviour and throwing objects at the players.

I greatly suspect that the CFL has told Young and the Ticats to remain silent while the investigation continues.
