View Full Version : TFC's "Pristine Pitch" Ruined by Argos!

This is according to former mayor David Miller at least as I guess that the pristine pitch wasn't so pristine last night after much rain between the Argos' Friday night game and TFC's game on Wednesday night. Richard Peddie, who has seemingly had it in for the Argos for decades, jumped to Miller's defence on Twitter. I guess the Argos are responsible for the rain too, as well as TFC's lousy season.

F them both. As I mentioned on Twitter, when he was mayor, Miller couldn’t praise the Argos enough for their community involvement. Now he wants to put a nail in their coffin. Two faced jerk.

Peddie is a runt that forced Pat Quinn out as Leafs GM to hire John Ferguson Jr. Enough said.

At the 2015 MLS draft (held as a part of the American National Soccer Coaches Association Conference)

John Torres, the head groundskeeper at Philadelphia's PPL Park hosted a seminar called "Playing Surface Management"

This was by an expert talking to other experts in the field with no discernible financial stake.

PPL Park is also interesting in that it hosts Football, Lacrosse, Rugby and other random events.

John Torres, PPL Park's head groundskeeper, went to Ohio State then worked for the Crew whose field quality has long been highly-regarded. PPL Park is also interesting in that it hosts football, lacrosse, rugby and other random events.

Torres says that, though it surprises some people, soccer does the most damage to a playing field of the sports he's worked with. January 17 from TweetDeck

"Nobody wants to play on synthetic turf, but there's a certain need for it at a certain time," Torres says. January 17 from TweetDeck

Two faced jerk.IIRC, it was under his watch that the shenanigans happened to allow BMO to be built for soccer dimensions only defying what was in city council minutes "capable of a conversion to a football format."

I remember reading somewhere that a Wembley Stadium groundskeeper said the same thing, and that was after NFL football started to be played there.

Miller is a total knob, zero relevance in what a politician says.
Peddie is the prototypical MLSE talking head which I also have no time for.

Notice how Miller and company always get like this when TFC isn't doing well?

They are just looking for excuses. It would be much better for their sanity if they just accepted the fact TFC isn't very good this year and the condition of the pitch wouldn't have made a difference.

The visiting team plays on the same pitch. Suck it up.

I don't know where this "disinformation" with Miller is taking place but someone should post the examples of the two turf experts above. These TFC guys will lie through their teeth as they have always done and will even try to say the experts are covering their ass (for what) and don't know anything. But you post facts for the benefit of people who still have some common sense in their head so they can see what malicious and insidious things these people have gotten up to.

The problem is with the way the TFC has been playing, it has nothing to do with the fields that they've been playing on - LMAO! Talk about a lame excuse!!

The Argos and TFC should play each other for field rights. One game of "soccer" and one game of football. Point differential gets the stadium and the other team has to fart off. And Giovinco has to be brought back to play in that game. Sell tickets at $100 each. Winner gets the gate too.

Congratulations to the soccer team from Montreal on a hard fought victory over TFC on the ruined pitch at BMO field Sunday night.

Naturally a ruined pitch is to the disadvantage of the team that pays millions to washed up players that are no longer wanted by their previous clubs.

The Argos have no home games in September and TFC have one more game on Sept 30 at BMO. If TFC made the playoffs they would be on the road. I'm thinking the only reason for this bizarre schedule, especially for the Argos is the field needs a rest for a month before winter. Just a theory.

Turf war

TFC fans spend an inordinate amount of time blaming the Toronto Argonauts for poor field conditions at BMO Field. In truth, the field is generally in great condition, and the Argos have very little to do with field degradation as they practice at nearby Lamport Stadium and generally use the natural grass at BMO Field once every two weeks during the season.

Aside from a short walk through yesterday, Sunday’s game was the first time they’d played on the grass this season, yet it looked to be in rough shape before the players even took the field. It’s clear that TFC has far more to do with the grass conditions than the Argos.

This thread contains all the examples of why the myth of football causing more damage than soccer is untrue.
