Is it me or is the QB sneak on the goal line for a TD becoming the most common form of TD in the CFL? And it seems that for some reason that this year has had the most. Don’t have the stats to prove it but it just seems that it’s happening more often this season and is a CFL trend. I don’t see it happening in the NFL as much.

For instance, 9 of the top 10 leaders in rushing TDs are QBs. 2021 had 5/10, 2019 7/10, 2018 5/10, 2017 2/10, 2016 5/10, and looking back further 2009 1/10, 2008 2/10 and 2007 3/10. And in the past it was mostly starting QBs who rushed for TDs and I’m not sure the likes of Burris or Reilly or Printers only scored on sneaks.

I get that there is now a trend to have backups do the sneaks but what is going on that teams are always stopping at the goal line and not scoring longer TDs or from further out in the red zone.

This new Offensive Strategy will prolong the careers of QBs such as Dominic Davis and Caleb Evans.

I saw a Marshall Ferguson tweet earlier today about that. He floated the idea of having defenses line up nose-to-nose with the offense within the 5-yard line instead of pushing them 1 yard back.

I'm not sure, but I do think this trend could be addressed in some way. It doesn't make for the most exciting plays.
