Renders for York U's Stadium are up and around.

Because we all love to talk about the possibility of Argo's and Stadium

The idea of an olympic sized track around the field would really make for a crappy Football Stadium...

Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth to this. It puts the seats very far from the action, and screws up the corners of the end zones -- see Commonwealth. If there was a way to roll the stands over top of the track for football, it could work nicely, but that would likely add a lot of cost. Still, the drawings look pretty nice -- any word on the projected capacity?

The plan is for the stadium to hold 5,000 permanent seats. with an additional 5,000 in temp seats, have read that they could add more though.

It does look particularly bad on the rendering.

Ask Eskimo fans how much they love those sight lines at Commonwealth, Argos should avoid going to stadium with a track.

Also, keep in mind that while it isn't there now, the track at Olympic Stadium and all the other stuff associated with the '76 games probably still contributes to the unpleasantness of that stadium.

I remember CNE with a track. I'm not holding my breath for an Argo stadium or proper practice facility. It's just bloody insane with sports and there stadiums and arenas. I'm sick of seeing billions spent on stadiums. Nothing wrong with the dome except it's owners.

The design of the grandstands looks OK....An 8 lane track would be a killer to intimacy though.

Whatever happened to a possible stadium in the Lower Donlands, where the athletes village is being setup for the Pan-Ams? I heard that was a possibility. Just curious if Rugby is a Pan-AM sport (i don't think so) . If it were or is, then the Argos could do something with them or Rugby Canada. A Canadian football field and Rugby field are much more similar than a Canadian Football field and Soccer field are.

That York U stadium renditions look awesome, if only the Argos could and would.

Rugby Sevens is in the Pan Am Games, Canada's the defending champion. (2011 was the first time for it.) The 2015 plan has rugby at BMO Field.

I thought a Rugby Field is larger than a soccer field. I know Canada played Italy in a 15 man Rugby friendly a few Fridays ago at BMO. How does a Rugby field fit and what are the Rugby field dimensions. I always thought the CFL got their original 25 yd endzones from Rugby but I'm not sure as I don't Rugby much.

Just read your link and got my answers there, thanks. Wow, I did not know a Rugby field was even closer to a square field than a CFL field.

Here's a plan of a rugby field - http://www.irb.com/mm/Document/LawsRegs/0/Law1EN_7709.pdf

I think that link from the toronto2015 site neglects to include the normal 22 m end zones. So overall it's pretty similar to a CFL field in length - 100 m (109 yards) + 2 22 m (24 yards) end zones. It's wider though, 70m (77 yards) vs 65 yards for a CFL field, and the rugby laws say "not to exceed" those dimensions so I guess there's some flexibility there.

I presume the Rugby field dimensions were shorter in length for that Rugby friendly at BMO Field a few weeks ago...Did they shorten the end zones only or was the entire surface proportionately reduced so that it would look equivalent in terms of the touch zone and the 22 metre zones..etc.

I agree with what the old guys says (above)...

Dont forget..the "new stadium" effect wears off in a season or so...
