We were blacked out until I sent an e-mail to Shaw and they realized there mistake last night. So we just saw that lowlight of Kalif Mitchell at the Montreal/ Hamilton halftime. That is the dirties play I've ever seen. He knew exactly what he was doing. This isn't UFC. He's an F'ing SCUM.

While a case can be made for suspending him the rest of the year, I'm guessing he gets no more than 5 games (assuming it's true that the Commissioner now has the power to impose long suspensions).

He should get at least 4. That was brutal, and his explanation after the game makes it even worse IMO.

I'll be surprised if he gets more than 2.

He should be allowed to answer the charge but it's looking pretty cut and dry from the video. I don't know what the suspension prescedent is in the CFL as I'm still new but when you think some of the things Brendan Shanahan has handed out large suspensions for since the Shanaban came into effect, this really has to get the CFL equivalent; intent to injure, not a football play and could have done career threatening damage to that guy's arm. He won't get tossed for the season but I get a feeling we don't see him till late September.

Where would you find out what the league can do for suspensions? Through the grapevine, I've heard they can't suspend for more than 1 game. Shame......

Apparently not. It was discussed during half time of the Cats/Als game last night the CBA doesn't set a maximum suspension length, just that the league hasn't suspended anyone for more than a game

He probably won't get more than a game. Not that I agree with a game but I don't see him getting a 5 game suspension.

We don't need a scum like that in our league.

We don't need stuff like that in ANY league!

I don't think that Mitchell himself is a bad guy - and fans who know him claim that he is anything but - but sometimes good people do bad things and that is what happened here. I agree that he needs a multiple game suspension which will hopefully cut out this kind of behaviour.

a full season is harsh and an overeaction. 4 games is 1/4 of a full season and sends a strong message to others.

I will be stunned if he gets more than one game. The politics of the CFL will not allow a multigame suspension, regardless of whether or not it's warranted.

That was my thinking exactly.

You may be right, Paul. I'm really hoping that the pressure from the panel discussion makes the league act more appropriately, though.

Was the O lineman supposed to tapout. It was a joke and the hammer should come down hard. He could have ended a career.

Well, he did get more than 1 game, but still not enough in my opinion. Still at least we know that 1 is not the maximum suspension in the league. This means he'll miss the Argos-Lions tilt on Aug 6.

I am pleasantly surprised, and happy to admit my prediction was wrong. Hats off to Mark Cohon et al for coming down harder than the league has in many years. You can argue that two is not enough, but it's a good step in the right direction.

This was in no way part of football and he should have had more games. I've never seen a guy trying to take another guys arm off like that. The guy is a total asshole.

Seriously? On what grounds is he appealing? That he doesn't deserve 2 games because the arm stayed in the socket?

Thats funny, and scary at the same time.

I think he should count his blessings he only got 2 games, im curious what happens in the "re-match" on Sept 13th in Edmonton.

Real teeth to the suspension as he's appealed and now can play the next two games. Our O linemen better keep their arms tight to their bodies in two weeks.
