When a person or an organization believes they are working towards the greater good, the end justifies the means.

What does it matter that the league was operating in complete secrecy from the beginning of this? What does it matter that the Argos attendance is down, or that the league is less competitive without Kelly? What does it matter if the league destroys careers and reputations without even having to explain exactly why?

All that matters is achieving that state of moral superiority.

I guess I should have expected nothing less from Randy

A process cloaked in secrecy. A half a season wasted going through “reeducation.”

A civil case that was settled out of court, continues in a kangaroo court.

A behind closed door review with the results leaked by the league’s media so I can only take this is their best take on what happened .

AngeloV take is right on when he said Randy laid the trap. Just sign this declaration of guilt?

I’m pretty sure this situation has developed into protecting Randy now.

I’m sure the league understands the consequences of tanking a season for the franchise & the league struggling at the gate but puts its own policies ahead of these concerns.

I can see the argument for a top player sitting on a NFL practice squad over the risk playing in Randy’s league.

What an absolute joke.

I’m sure they know the pressure is on CK because the longer he waits, the more big paycheques go down the tube.

Randy, please turn out the lights on this league as you’ll probably be the last one watching it.

No no no you don't get it.

The media was pretty clear. If Kelly returns, the Argos will lose fans. We will all be devastated.

The vast majority of Argos fans believe Dukes should be the starting quarterback, remember?

And the media cares about the Argos. Just look at how the media coverage of the Argos increased when Kelly stopped practising with the team.

It's not like they only faked an interest in the Argos just to go after Chad Kelly.

You should be careful, your accurate and common sense summary of this embarrassing shit show could be construed as completely offensive and scary in today’s world.

Randy has had 3 months since suspension and 6 months since grievance came to light to lay out this clause. To apply this day of is ridiculous and to expect a player to sign it immediately is even more ridiculous. This needs to be vetted by lawyers and negotiated back and forth. Could add weeks to process when it should have been ready to go by now.
Agree with many here it is all about protecting Randy and league because they have mishandled the process so badly with their lack of transparency and dictatorial approach.
I hope MLSE and Argos now get behind Chad and put pressure on Randy to end this now.
The team and Chad have gone along with this up to now like good soldiers.
Being an asshole does not deserve a 9 game suspension. No evidence has been put forward that he is a sexual harasser or predator. And if he was he wouldn't be on the team or in the league anymore.

The league was under no obligation to "lay out this clause" before now. It made it clear the situation would be evaluated after the suspension was served, and it reserved the right to impose further measures. The commissioner can stipulate a last-chance agreement (or any other measure he deems appropriate), and Kelly can in turn ask the union to grieve on his behalf.

To the best of my knowledge, since he is represented y a certified bargaining agent, he has to have that agent (the PA) represent him in any dispute over how the CBA is being applied. If he has some non-CBA basis for opposing the employer's actions (such as a human-rights complaint), he could then bring his own lawyers into it. But if this is a debate over whether or not his rights under the CBA are being violated, it's the PA that will have to represent him. No doubt they will be taking legal advice, as I'm sure the league has also done in this matter.

Everything you said here is right. But Randy is also in charge of the business of the league, and Chad Kelly is not just a guy on a team. He is the reigning MOP of the league, and an absolute difference maker on the field. And coming off this suspension just makes Kelly and the Argos must see TV, as is Nathan Rourke. He will sell tickets and increase viewership and the other teams are going to get up to play against him and Toronto.
9 games is a big deal. If he wasn't going to ban him for life, than he should be back on the field with no more pushing the envelope. This is just punishing Kelly, the Argos and fans of the league. Especially if he ends up playing in another game or two.
The league has made it's point and handed down one of the harshest penalties.
To now not look after the business side is a dereliction of Randy's duties.
I sincerely hope he is relieved of his duties soon because a new direction is needed.
Ownership has never been stronger. I can't believe they don't want a better commissioner to take the league into the future.

As in this case, the league is in far worse case than it was when Randy took over.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but haven’t team ownerships changed hands 6 times under his commissioner ship. How crazy is that in a 9 team league. And the 10th franchise he’s promised on day one, is far farther away.

Global initiative has only succeeded in reducing players salaries.

Please change this league’s commissioner and its direction. The league can’t stand much more.

Is this discussion about the Chad Kelly suspension, or about Randy Ambrosie's performance as commissioner? The two subjects are not inextricably linked IMO.
