Paul, you are right in much of what you say. However, good offenses know how to diversify and many teams use fullbacks in the league, even on a somewhat limited basis. As for what American to sit, I would sit Daniels at times since you do have Canadians to replace him. As for RD doing it, you are likely right, he seems quite set in his ways but there are times in which you have to see the errors of your ways. Otherwise, it is often the downfall of coaches when they stick too much to what they know. As the famous Nick Saban this question, when he was forced to get with the times when he changed his style of offense using QB's as dropback passers to a more mobile dual threat QB a few years ago at Alabama. He continued to have success once he realized this.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 7:24 pmThere are a few problems with this scenario IMO. Using an American fullback would necessitate sitting an American elsewhere; I personally would not like to sit any of the three starting American receivers, and I'm pretty sure Dinwiddie wouldn't, either. So where else? I suppose Cage could be replaced by Hunter, if someone like MacKellar or Giffen is truly ready to start at LG. Not sure about that. Also, while we have lots of NAT receivers, I don't think I'd call this a strength of the team. Ungerer is a reliable possession guy, Brissett (when healthy) is good and potentially will become great, but Nield and Sindani are depth guys/backups and IMO it's too early to count on Mital as a regular altho I want him to get much more playing time. And of course there's the small matter of Dinwiddie seeming to have little use for the fullback position. Most coaches in this league seem to feel the same way, but RD seems to be at an extreme end of that spectrum.primetime321 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 6:43 pm Given that defenses are going to three man fronts more often to make QB's beat them, ideally, the Argos could pick up a good blocking fullback who is also very effective on short yardage so that the Argos running game could even be more potent. Given the team's strength in Canadian receivers, even an American could be obtained.
