Re: BC Lions
I didn't watch the game to be honest, but Vernon Adams 26/36 for 385. BC with a bounce back win 27-3 over Montreal. Not sure if they'll win at Mosaic, but they needed some confidence going into the postseason.
Re: BC Lions
They played with a lot more energy and confidence tonight on both sides of the ball. Adams has chemistry with this receivers that Rourke simply doesn't have at this point. This will probably be Rourke's team for years to come but this year's team is still very much Adams'.
Re: BC Lions
I saw that Campbell said that Adams will be starting the west-semi. The Lions are on the bye next week and finished with a 9-9 record.

We'll sound like a broken records, but Halifax or Quebec City would solve that.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 6:54 amI hate the fact they have a bye week going into the playoffs.

Yeah - i recall that one from Suitor, buttering-up poor Nathan.
Surprised that line did not become a great go to joke or punch-line at another site where they love to mock players not on their homer team.
The Farhan Lajji comment calling Rourke a top 20 in the "world" QB talent is still good fodder though. Imagine - a CFL player even close to a top 20 with all the NFL super-heroes in comparison - what a joke / not even in the same Universe(note - Alex Singleton wins CFL D player of the year award, goes to the NFL, gets a shot to play, and in the past 3 seasons is 3rd in the ENTIRE NFL in cumulative D tackles in that span = WTF?)

There is nothing wrong with believing Rourke can be a success in the NFL if given a chance. But to matter of factly make these claims? Based on what? As for Singleton, he got a chance because he showed he was better than other players in training camp. Rourke had a play that broke the internet in a pre season game, and that is the evidence people need to believe he's a top 20 QB in the world? Give me a break.

Not saying Rourke is the greatest QB or anything like that; but the fact is - he set the historic CFL's all-time completion % mark; and there is basically zero evidence of a star CFL QB who gets a real NFL shot (playing time - a season or more) and fails - Theissmann, Moon, Brock, Garcia, Flutie - show that; but the NFL no longer gives a flying **** about CFL play, and they will rate their guys - top draft picks or known FAs - way higher than any CFL super accomplished football player.
Singleton is just an example of another outstanding CFL player who when given a chance, shows he is also an outstanding NFL player; NFL fan-boys and other naysayers up here just would not grasp that this is even possible. Rourke was a write-off to the NFL super-experts and they are entitled to their opinions, but I don't see every team down there with a Mahomes or Aaaron Rodgers manning the QB position - a number of average to weak QB talents do get to play there - because some GMs and coaches are not that bright but like to roll with "their guy".

Sort of interesting but not at all CFL surprising.
At least Buck is a former very good Lions player AND has paid his dues coaching on a very strong CFL team (5 straight GC appearances), for years. They could have given the job to recycled Benevides or brought in a dullard like LaPo for another kick at the can.
I'm also very glad the EE did not hire / recycle same old GOB Campbell as HC (to carry on his daddy's legacy sort of story), Instead the job went to another veteran coach (but not a former CFL HC recycle job) who was part of a (once) strong team for many years; and a Canadian - from Alberta / raised on Alberta football !
Re: BC Lions
How many Canadian head coaches are we up to now, OV? Four - Dyce, Mace, Killam, and O'Shea. That's almost half of the league's head coaches. If we count Dave Dickenson, who is now a Canadian citizen, that's the majority.OV Argo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 6:19 pmARGO57 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 5:35 pm Looks like Buck Pierce is the new Lions HC.
