East Final Thread - Toronto Argonauts @ Montreal Alouettes

Re: East Final Thread - Toronto Argonauts @ Montreal Alouettes
I think the key to this game will come to who best controls the line of scrimmage. If our O-line dominates, we establish the run game, setting up 2nd and short yardage, which then opens up the playbook a lot more. If our D-line dominates, that puts more pressure on Fajardo, taking away some of those underneath routes that we get beaten on with our zone coverage.
The other big thing is that Chad Kelly has to stay "grounded", for lack of a better word. He doesn't have to win the game on his own, and he should feel no pressure to atone for last year's ESF. Just play the game like you know how, and take what the defense gives you. I am happy that his QB coach will be sitting with him this year to keep him calm.
While Montreal has had a great regular season, they did not dominate in the latter half of the season, and IMO are beatable.

Was a nice interview on Overdrive TSN 1050 at around 5:45 with the Coach. If they could do a few regular CFL spots that would awesome... But nice to hear ARGO's talk on the Radio.

Sopik back in the line-up is a potential big boost IMO; cause he could do more against an all-pass offence compared to Darkangelo who is the better/bigger run stuffer; be interesting to see the D deployment; rookie T. Blackburn had a real nice pass knock-down last game against Brown/Ottawa (when the Argo D was just not making enough plays) . Get the best pass defenders in there, especially on critical down/distance situations.

Jonathan Edouard will be replacing Blackburn in the lineup on Saturday.OV Argo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 9:03 pm Sopik back in the line-up is a potential big boost IMO; cause he could do more against an all-pass offence compared to Darkangelo who is the better/bigger run stuffer; be interesting to see the D deployment; rookie T. I was a little surprised by that move Ravi. I really like Blackburn but perhaps Edouard is a better ST player.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 12:43 amJonathan Edouard will be replacing Blackburn in the lineup on Saturday.OV Argo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 9:03 pm Sopik back in the line-up is a potential big boost IMO; cause he could do more against an all-pass offence compared to Darkangelo who is the better/bigger run stuffer; be interesting to see the D deployment; rookie T. I like Blackburn, as well. I think the coaches decided to go with experience, considering that two rookies (Blackburn and Hergott) are being sat in favour of two vets (Edouard and Sopik).gilthethrill wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 7:45 am I was a little surprised by that move Ravi. Blackburn did play a decent amount of reps on D this season, so that is puzzling to me.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 9:29 amI like Blackburn, as well. Hergott got next to no playing time on D (a few reps in some garbage time maybe) - guess he just hasn't impressed the D coaches much; and when a few other rookies around the league have really impressed with real playing time (like Cantin-Arku for the Als)

Shout out to all the people organizing Viewing parties... made the trip to Montreal or have supported the ARGOs / CFL this year.
We don't have the biggest fanbase.... but we have the best.
Should be a great day for CFL football.
GO ARRGOS !!!

One additional lineup change is DL Jordan Williams replacing DB Kenneth George Jr on the roster.
