Re: 2024 Transactions
Naylor reported that Ticats might go after someone from the NFL who has CFL experience for their GM job if Hervey leaves. Time for Pinball to pre-emptively talk Pelley into making a VERY lucrative offer to Vince Magri to become GM and any other fancy title he desires.

I would hope that Pelley would name Pinball as the team president then leave the naming of his successor up to Clemons.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:40 pm Naylor reported that Ticats might go after someone from the NFL who has CFL experience for their GM job if Hervey leaves. Another candidate you might consider is Chris Rossetti who is the Giants Director of Pro Scouting, albeit a bigger title than Magri holds. Given the horrible season that Giants are having, it is hard to know how stable Rossetti could be in New York, while Magri could be in further demand if the Bills progress towards the Super Bowl.
Re: 2024 Transactions
I doubt that Magri has had or been seen to have much influence on the Bills after only a few months on the job.primetime321 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 10:03 pmI would hope that Pelley would name Pinball as the team president then leave the naming of his successor up to Clemons.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:40 pm Naylor reported that Ticats might go after someone from the NFL who has CFL experience for their GM job if Hervey leaves. Rossetti is no doubt a riser. My point is I do NOT, under any circumstances, want the Ticats to get their hands on Magri.primetime321 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 10:03 pm

Re: 2024 Transactions
All it takes is for someone above who does have more influence to pull Magri with them (as is often the case when teams poach other teams personnel for promotions). Case in point recently with the Bills losing Joe Schoen to the Giants, where he hired Rossetti having worked with him in Miami previously.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 10:31 pmI doubt that Magri has had or been seen to have much influence on the Bills after only a few months on the job.primetime321 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 10:03 pmI would hope that Pelley would name Pinball as the team president then leave the naming of his successor up to Clemons.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:40 pm Naylor reported that Ticats might go after someone from the NFL who has CFL experience for their GM job if Hervey leaves. Having Magri and/or Rosetti back would be incredible. In an interview after the celebration today Pinball did say that his assistant GM John Murphy is signed to a contract for next season.

Pinball discusses John Murphy at 17 minute mark when asked the question. The whole video is good however. Also discusses keeping Dinwiddie.

That is good news given that Steve Simmons had questioned the return of Murphy is one of his stories, suggesting that Murphy could be a candidate for an opening in Calgary.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 7:58 pm Having Magri and/or Rosetti back would be incredible. The fact that the football operations department is pretty bare these days, indicates to me that maybe Dinwiddie will have some extra personnel duties. My concern with this scenario is that Dinwiddie's effectiveness as a head coach could be diminished much like Dave Dickenson in Calgary when he took on the GM role there.
Re: 2024 Transactions
I have similar concerns although making Dinwiddie GM also may be a way to ensure that he stays in Toronto for the long-term. He would need to find an offensive coordinator in that scenario though.primetime321 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 7:44 pmThat is good news given that Steve Simmons had questioned the return of Murphy is one of his stories, suggesting that Murphy could be a candidate for an opening in Calgary.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 7:58 pm Having Magri and/or Rosetti back would be incredible.
