I suppose I'm in the minority here.
I quite enjoyed last years' funny announcement video with the man-on-the-street questions to Torontonians asking them to identify CFL teams by logos.
I got chuckles all year from calendar reminders that we'd be playing the Sudbury Racecars, Calgary Tigers Basketball or the Wombats.

I think you are completely right. My point is how 3DN only realized the importance of a schedule reveal now. The timing is suspect. Why did it take them so long to learn how important it is? It's not something they were interested in before.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:24 amIt's entirely possible for Argo fans to have a chip on their shoulder about how 3DN writes about the Argos. That's beside the point, IMO.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 6:24 pmI get what you're saying but why is a schedule reveal suddenly important to 3DN now? How come this wasn't an issue to them at any point in the last decade?
They can't fall back on their regular insults around attendance, because the Argos attendance is trending upwards.
They can't say anything about the Argos circumventing the cap because BC was the biggest culprit last season. They also don't seem to be as willing to go after BC for doing so as they did with the Argos this time last year. I wonder why?
It seems to me this article was created just to insult the Argos. Again, a schedule reveal was never a subject they covered in the past.
The issue I addressed was whether or not they should have been writing about how teams handled the schedule release. This is a legitimate thing to cover. ANYTHING teams do publicly is legitimately open to scrutiny and coverage. This is especially true in a league that has often been accused of not doing enough to promote its product. What many teams did last week was an attempt to promote the product.

Re: 2025 schedule
I could write a book (don't worry, I won't) about issues I've had over the years with 3DN's journalistic practices, but the fact they are only now getting around to doing something they could have done in the past shouldn't be held against them IMO. As they get more experience, presumably they develop better judgment about what is and isn't worth writing about. Now that they've done it once, it behooves them to do it again next year. Let's see what happens then.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:48 pmI think you are completely right. My point is how 3DN only realized the importance of a schedule reveal now. Re: 2025 schedule
My gut feeling tells me that their thought process wasn't to write an article about the quality of the schedule reveals for the purposes of taking a shot at the Argos. That decision came later when Abbott was writing the article I'm sure.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:48 pmI think you are completely right.
