I agree 100% Will, Argos are in no position to take any team lightly.

I agree with OV Argo that Patterson looked shaky when he had to fill in for Harris. Not surprising, but he's had two weeks to learn more of the offence and then get first team reps in practise. So while I think he will be better, I give the Argos the advantage at QB. Dukes has played well good enough for me, so far, and if he can just manage the game, take what the defence gives him, and not turn over the ball, we should be fine.
While AJO is a good running back, what I have noticed so far this year is that he is not getting much to work with. Riders O-line has just not been able to create many good holes for him to hit, so he is not as big a threat as he might otherwise be. Mind you, his punishing style can take its toll on defenders, even though it looks like it's taking a toll on him... I think he has some kind of low-grade injury.
This will likely be a close game, but I like the Argos chances.

Shea Patterson is what he is...a guy who has had multiple opportunities with multiple organizations. No reason to believe he is going to do anything grand Thursday night.

Great assessment.OV Argo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 11:51 am IF the Riders are starting S. Patterson at QB in place of the injured Harris, I thought he looked weak and uncomfortable last game when he got in. The Riders might try to respond with lots of ground game with AJO, but stuff that early and like pretty well all CFL offensive thinkers they will abandon run and go mostly pass. Put heat on Patterson and get sacks and picks; the Riders do have some very good receiver talent though, so the so far weak Argo secondary could get burned further.
And the Argo offence should go plenty of balance & diversity - IMO, please
The Riders have given up at least 20 points per game. Dukes should put up some numbers against them. If the Argos offence does its job, it will be the defence that decides the final score.

The team has posted the depth chart for tomorrow's game:

Some interesting changes bring Priester into the lineup, Franklin switching sides to the boundary side and Jonathan Edouard getting a shot at the field side corner after some good play last week. Ralph Holley will rotate with Jordan Williams and Brinkman at DT. I wonder if Amari Dennis will get some time as well spelling Edouard or playing in nickel packages.

Dionte Knight claimed off the PR by the Ticats; guess this Argo brain-trust didn't think much of their former 10th overall draft pick?
Maybe the new in charge of D types think D-Line is mostly for Americans; we'll see if Tyson Hergott gets any shot to help the pass-rush which has not been as strong as last year's group.

It is a bit of a surprise Knight was not put on the 1 game injury list, unless they were not that concerned about losing him. It does mean that the team now has no Canadian interior defensive linemen.
Re: Game Thread: Toronto Argonauts at Saskatchewan Roughriders
And David Menard - vet who can play both DE & DT was up for grabs after the Lions cut him - Ticats did sign him, and maybe he commanded pretty big buck$ - but i doubt that.
And the Ticats had earlier cut their former draft pick DT Mo Diallo (big DT, nice Div I resume; i thought he was impressive some in his bit of playing time in Hamilton). Not signed by any CFL team yet? Like Oakman ?

Oakman is an Elk.
Took a while, but many figured that'd be where the big guy landed.
Glad it was after our home game against them.

6-3 Argos after 1 quarter.
Janarion Grant with the punt return TD.
Argos were starting to get some momentum until that holding penalty on Nicastro.
