He was most pissed about the stupid, selfish penalties and said that he told the team that someone may be going home tomorrow as a result. He also said there was a blatant block to the back on the winning kick return that he couldn't challenge (I believe it was #43 of the Riders). He was also upset with how his o-line was beaten up on the one yard line and was especially critical of a 280 pound guard; he doesn't know what this guard was up to in the off-season. I think he is referring to Vandal but I am not sure. He did praise the likes of Mital and Brissett though.
Maybe they should consider using Turner as the short yardage QB as he played the position at Hawaii. If they can’t overpower opposition then maybe using speed and quickness can help loosen up opposing defenses.
Honestly I think QB sneak from the 1 yard line is less automatic now than it ever has been. If I had hair, I would be pulling it out when they empty the backfield leaving the QB sneak as the only option. At least do what NFL teams are doing and put a player or 2 behind the QB for a push. But I personally would have QB under C and a lead blocker for a RB and go off tackle look. There are so many plays you can run off that look. I get the theory that you should get a yard when the D is a yard off, but when you know it’s a QB sneak, it’s not automatic unless you have Tommy 260lb Stevens in there

We seem to be seeing with more regulatory teams being stopped on 2nd and 3rd down and goal at the opposition 1 yard line with the Argos perhaps being the worst at it over the past couple of years. With an entire field at your disposal, why not just run your regular offence out there and spread it out?

Right before the I'll fated kickoff, I said out loud to my brother "I wonder if they're going to kick it deep." I don't necessarily think it was the wrong decision to kick it deep. With the benefit of hindsight, I believe that a deep line drive/grounder type of kick (as OV Argo mentioned) AWAY from Alford would have been prudent if you wanted to go that route. I would've preferred a shorter kick with more hang time so that one of the "up men" would have to handle the ball. Dinwiddie certainly let his emotions get the best of him at the post game press conference. Such a deflating way to lose , which was compounded by being a man short. Kudos to Arbuckle and company for coming back to tie the game.

On the TSN broadcast, just before that kick-off, Suitor was talking about the options and would they kick it deep to Alford; Marshall Ferguson gave a 2 word reply: "I wouldn't". Handed them the game with that move basically when there was no need to take that risk.

Kicking it deep was the only right option. Too much time was left for a squib kick. One 1st down could put them in field goal range. You can argue they shouldn't have kicked it to Alford, but 12 men on the kick team would have greatly increased the chances of limiting him to a short return.

So then, the "only right option" resulted in them losing the game - hope u are happy with that.

All I will say regarding the ending is that no one bothered to count to 11 prior to kickoff, because even amidst the confusion and chaos they had a timeout left in their pocket they could have used to correct things.

But if you give up almost 2 field lengths in penalties, you deserve to lose.

No, playing a man short did. That return was coming right at us where we were sitting. I remember telling the person sitting next to me how light the right side of the coverage team was. That’s on both the ST captain and coach who are both supposed to count up the numbers in the huddle.

Not sure who the backup ST captain was (If they even had one for this game) but that would normally be Jack Cassar.

A watched the replay a few times and a few things bother me. I realize it’s not a guarantee to kick away from a player, but at least you can try it. Alford was on the right hash, so at least try to kick it left. He may still recieve it but that’s got to be better than kicking right freking to him! As the Riders set up their return, it looks perfect, 5 blockers running ahead of Alford with ZERO Argonauts in sight. Almost no penetration downfield. There are two blocks in the back, but even those are coming from players running from the side. I swear the plan was to indeed kick it left because that’s exactly what the cover team seemed to be doing. Of course they only rush 10 men leaving Saskatchewan an extra man to block whoever does make it through or make up for any missed assignment. The whole play was a total screw up. A squib is not the right call and a line drive isn’t either. You’re giving the Riders a good chance of return leaving your team way upfield doing that, even better when they are a man short.
