Re: Game Thread: Toronto Argonauts @ Montreal Alouettes
Perhaps Montreal was looking past the Argos and were making plans for the bye week. They were getting cocky and needed to be brought down a peg. Argos Oline had a great bounce back game and showed they are the class of the league. Carey, McMahon and DA all contributed making it easy to forget that other guy.
Grant had a great night returning the ball, reminding me of Keith Stokes.
The loss of Fajardo didn't help Montreal, but as Argo fans know, losing your starting QB is no excuse. Next up, Hamilton and still Mark Washington's D.
Nice to see Pinball go 1-0 as his first game as Argo President.

I, too, am alright with being in the wrong prediction category on this one. For some of the injury problems on our end, it is worth noting the Als weren't just without Fajardo but also Julien-Grant, Dequoy (Who were both scratched just before the game), Cantin-Arku (I'm not sure if he returned or not), and Lemon (who probably won't return). It was great to see us take advantage of the extra rest to pick up a key win. It completely changes the momentum going into Hamilton, as opposed to entering on a 3-game losing streak. Being down just 2 games and tying the season series with Montreal still gives us a huge opportunity to come back and win the east division.

Much better performance from the secondary and the o-line than last week. The d-line also looked excellent despite missing two hugely important pieces. Grant is obviously a huge weapon -- I just wish Dinwiddie hadn't gotten cute with that shovel pass play to him that almost cost a turnover when the game was still within Mtl's reach. Lots of problems with Nicastro's snaps.

I’m not giving any credit to the Als struggles. We are down our MOP QB, 2 all-star D lineman and many receivers. The Als look weak without Fajardo. Props to the Argos coaching and depth to have a winning record so far this season.

Agreed. The Argos played Montreal when they had a short week two weeks ago (although they had one more day to prepare than the Als did this week) and have been decimated by injuries so far this season. The coaches' gameplan was a good one and executed very well by the players. I feel like this win will turn out to be a very significant one when all is said and done this season.

Hard fought win and a solid, entertaining game.
Dukes played the game he needed to but I believe the win came down to defence and coaching. This defence looked almost like last year's.
Dukes will be a good CFL starter one day. He has all the tools. However with the Argos luck, you almost know that time will come on another team just like Harris, Collaros and Fajardo.
Right now watching him throw a long pass is terrifying because you just don't know where that ball will end up.
How about that Janarion Grant? Javon who!?

Dinwiddie had a long week to prepare and devised a great game plan that was executed by the players to beat the undefeated Alouettes.
He has a similar long week to prepare for Hamilton, and Hamilton is coming off the bye week and desperate for a win.
That is going to be a good game. On the road in Hamilton, the Argos and Dinwiddie will need to devise a similar gameplan.

Make Clemons President!!!
Re: Game Thread: Toronto Argonauts @ Montreal Alouettes
'Xs and Argos' podcast guys both cited Montreal's short week as the main reason for picking the Argos. Expecting the Als to have less in the tank in the 2nd half and running the ball down their throats was a really good call.
Some rough centre snaps yesterday. Gotta clean that up.
On to Hamilton!
