One challenge for 2026 for Coach Miller may be in game QB management. Hopefully not, but as full time head coach and offensive coordinator now his time spent during the game is on the sideline. When the offence comes off the field and Kelly, or Arbuckle are on the bench reviewing their iPads, they will be communicating with a different QB coach not necessarily Miller. Of course they can and will communicate with Miller on the sideline and discuss plays, play calling and game management. They just won't have his undivided attention anymore. It will be helpful to have a strong defensive coordinator to manage that part of the game and provide Miller the time to be the QB whisperer in game.

You raise a really good point. I think hiring Mike Miller was the best move the Argos could make. Much better than hiring a Rick Campbell or Chris Jones. But even with all his coaching experience, it is a different animal being a HC vs. a coordinator or specialty coach. And in that regard, Miller's transition to being HC is going to be one of his biggest challenges. We saw the hiccups early in Dinwiddie's tenure, and we may have some of that with Miller as well. But that is a price I am willing to pay. Having a strong coaching staff surrounding him will be key, so it will be interesting to see who stays and who goes from the existing staff, and who is brought in.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 11:42 am One challenge for 2026 for Coach Miller may be in game QB management. While Shivers is still under contract, I have never been a huge fan of his as a DC.
Bringing in someone like John Hufnagel is not going to hurt the team in any way. He has a proven track record and knows the CFL game, and was always successful in finding players who could play well in this league.

For what it's worth, Dinwiddie rarely talked to his QBs during games. Maybe a couple of words as they came off the field at the end of a drive, but he was largely in a bubble of his own, and left most of the communicating with QBs to Miller over the past four seasons. It will be interesting to see if Miller takes a similar approach. And to see who he places in "charge" of the QB room (assuming he appoints a QBs coach).

Mike Miller might pursue Tanner Marsh as a potential QB coach.Marsh played for Montreal in 2013 when Miller was the OC/QB coach.
Marsh's wife is from Quebec so he might be willing to come north.

Drew Tate was reportedly joining Dinwiddie in Ottawa, but he has yet to be removed from the Argos' website, which they seem to be keeping current. He could be a candidate for QBs coach.

I encourage everyone to listen to the 20 minute interview Miller does with John Hodge: https://3downnation.com/2025/12/04/mike ... ationship/
Interesting that Miller wants an "attacking" defence. It will be fascinating to see who his defensive assistants are. Miller seems like he will be very good with the media, which is were he initially wanted to work.

...and recognizes the importance of media to the league. The first thing he says to Hodge is thank you for covering the CFL and providing the information you do for the fans.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 11:57 pm I encourage everyone to listen to the 20 minute interview Miller does with John Hodge: https://3downnation.com/2025/12/04/mike ... ationship/

My fingers are crossed for Miller. This is a guy you root for, and want to see be successful.
