I am fine with Ungerer at Z, as he has played well there the past 3 seasons. They could use some additional NAT receiving depth and the likes of Drew Wolitarsky and Mitch Picton are still available.
In 3 Down Nations daily article focused on the Riders, it revealed Picton is leaning towards retirement. As for Gittens, 200K for a guy who averaged 10 yards per reception in 2024 & 12.5 last season seems very steep. Basically an overpaid possession guy. I don't see much on the current Argos roster behind Mital & Ungerer III as far as National depth in the Receiving core, so it looks like the draft (6 selections in the first 31) could yield a prospect.

It doesn't seem that long ago that the Argos had the best National talent regarding Receivers.
Lots of chances to sign some National receiver talent this free agency ... maybe they tried or maybe not ? Could go there with an early draft pick or two. Maybe undrafted free agent signing Tristan Ready (Carleton) - top 3 in U Sports receiving last season - will get a serious look in TC ?

And Ungerer is a solid, gritty receiver, but Gittens has more overall talent at the position in general, IMO.

CFL.ca transactions reports that DL Andre Carter, who was traded for National RB Daniel Adebeboye and then resided on the Retired List for the 2025 season & National Receiver Richie Sindani have been released.

I was looking at that list last night. I believe that Carter, Sindani and several others were "deleted" because their contracts expired and they are now free agents.

I'd be ok if Sindani decides to continue his professional football career in Toronto if decides to do so.

Ready (WR) might be a bit of a find. He only ran 4.84 at the Invitational Combine but had been recorded with a 4.62 when a few years younger. His game film demonstrates a toughness and a speedier player. It is a bit of a long shot but it's worth looking at his performance in training camp.

Yeah; nice free FA signing with some potential.

Receiver may be a key draft spot for the Argos coming up; that and D-line (both a DE & DT - though either of Vilain or Shand showing up could change that dynamic); so use both top picks and even later round long-shots at diamonds in the rough types at both those position groups; please - no more O-Line or LB "depth" or back-up prospects are needed this draft. I'd also look at taking a safety prospect and there are some that should be available mid to late rounds

Mike Miller sounded enthusiastic about the upcoming draft in an interview on argonauts.ca. He mentioned that the Argos have 6 of the top 31 picks.

I agree re the need for receivers and d-linemen, and the lack of need for LBs. But I strongly disagree re o-line. Among our NAT o-linemen, only Nicastro is truly guaranteed to be an above-average starter. Hunter is a big question mark based on how last season went, and the rest -- Doxtater, Shepley, Dankwah, Coakes, Bosse and Vandal -- are unproven. Bosse looked like a bust, and Vandal regressed big-time, last season. IMO if there are potential o-line starters available, drafting them would be smarter than taking long shots at diamonds in the rough at those other positions.

Do the Argos also have some past Canadians kicking around NFL (Wayne comes to mind at receiver). Its time to repatriate these folks.
