Dukes is not getting cut at this point. He's been in the system for two-plus years and has started nine games for Dinwiddie. Doege is injury insurance, and Horn is too green to be counted on if something happens to Arbuckle.
We will see. Kelly I think is a lot closer than what some people think. Arbuckle clear #2. I think it’s make or break tomorrow for Dukes.

I think that there are a few open starting places to be had, which could be determined by the last pre-season game. Obviously at least two spots along the D-line will be taken as I think that Jordan Williams at DT and Derek Parish at end will likely make the team. I think that boundary side corner is up for grabs as we don’t know Franklin’s status yet. The same goes for safety. It seems that the O-line is somewhat settled with Moore at left tackle, Doxtater at left guard and Hunter at right tackle but it will be interesting to see who the starting centre and right guard will be come June 4. I’m not sure about the status of Carey yet but tomorrow could be a battle for the week 1 starter’s role between Williams and Kevin Brown.

I didn’t want to stomach the rush hour traffic to Guelph to see the game but managed to see the second half on CFL+.
Here are some observations from my second half viewing:
I liked both Horn and Doege and wonder who the Argos keep around as their number three QB. Since neither were playing against the Ticats top defense, it’s hard for us fans to properly evaluate which one did better.
I thought that Jyran Mitchell was toast after last week but he really impressed me this week with his quickness and speed. Since he was a WR also in college then that gives the coaching staff something else to think about. Have a feeling that he will added to the practice roster.
Definitely think that Calvin Turner will make the practice roster at the very least. He showed good ability as both a receiver and returner. He even played quarterback in college so you wonder if they could use him as a short yardage QB in certain situations.
The D-line seemed to have more push than last week but that could be an effect of going against the Cats backups. The composition of the line seems to be still in flux at this time.
I think the defensive backfield cleared itself up but the big question is who will start at safety. I think they should keep Kenneth George Jr around for his versatility as a halfback and SAM , even though Rutledge is likely to be the starting SAM.
I’d like to hear the observations of those who were at the game to see another perspective.

Can anyone report on how Cam Dukes looked tonight? I missed the part of the game in which he played. Doege looked good in the 3rd quarter, as did Horn when he came back into the game.

From what I saw on CFL +, Dukes wasn't either good nor bad. He didn't have good field position to work with for the most part and he was working into a strong wind in the 1st Quarter. Doege really, really surprised especially for being in camp for a mere 4 days.
Pretty sure I heard Hoagie say that Arbuckle is starting in Montreal next Friday.

Interesting decisions to be made at RB. Williams looked good in preseason 1 and Mitchell looked good in preseason 2 albeit against Hamilton's 2s, 3s, and 4s.

In Dinwiddie’s post game presser, he said Kelly has been cleared and wants to play next week. I think Dukes has played his way off the team, and Doege will be #3. At the very least, he’s a more competent short yardage guy, but I also like the way he’s not afraid to throw down field.
Dukes is a very cool guy. I hope if he gets cut, someone picks him up.

I think you are correct Angelo.
We watched the entire game last night, Dukes didn’t distinguish himself at all while both Doege and Horn both played well and appear to have substantial potential.

I think with some good coaching that he did not see in Edmonton, Doege might turn into a really good QB. I thought he looked good 2 years ago when he played against the Argos.
