Unplayable wrote: ↑Mon Sep 29, 2025 12:20 pm The longest anyone has gone without sleep is just over 11 days, so you won't make it awake to the final games of the season to see what the final standings end up being.

I haven't seen any reports yet on what Lanier's injury is. If he can't play the rest of the season the Argos really don't have anyone to replace him and the defence will be worse, a defence that has given up 465 points over the course of the season, which is way more than any other team.
YUP, way more. Fundamental rule of defense in football is a Zone Defence only works if you HAVE A PASS RUSH, and can hurry the opposing QB.
As the Argos pass rush is very weak, and they insist on playing Zone so much, result is predictably you allow 30++ points against per game.
IF your offence can score 35+ points, you can still win, but only IF.

Predictions look good, except Calgary goes 9 and 9, Argos 7 and 11 8-)
No Kelly or Arbuckle, Argos don't win again.

Kelly was not listed on yesterday's injury report, which presumably means he is not coming off the six-game this week, which presumably means he is not playing at all this season.

I'm beginning to wonder if Kelly's days as an Argo are over. Something seems off.

I've been wondering that for months. There is almost certainly stuff going on behind the scenes that we are not privy to. Gonna be an interesting off-season.

Injury report looks ominous. Arbuckle limited. I think they need to start Doege rather than risk Arbuckle doing further damage to his calf. Also, if he is not much stronger than he was against BC, I don't think the same game plan would be as effective this week. I'm sure I am not the only one that noticed he had nothing on his deeper throws.
One thing that is painfully apparent now is that we won't be seeing Chad Kelly this year.
I really thought he would play this season. By all accounts last off season his rehab was on or ahead of schedule. Talk in first half of season was he was close. He posts about his comeback in early September. I hope at the end of the year some light can be shed on his condition.
I was never as convinced as others that Kelly would be back. He suffered a devastating injury. And as I have said before, it is one thing to recover to be able to resume "normal activities", and it is another to be recovered to withstand the rigour and stress of professional football. Perhaps if more was on the line, he might have come back, but as the season has progressed, it has become more evident that even making the playoffs was going to be an uphill battle. So, why risk it?

You make a very good point. I wonder if Kelly going down to Buffalo to get assessments/treatment there has anything to do with it? Is it possible that Kelly and the team's medical staff are not on the same page? Beyond the medical aspect, is there anything else going on that we are not aware of? I would have thought that the whole issue regarding the female staffer has been dealt with and is in the past, but who knows?

WEST
1. SASKATCHEWAN; 12-6
2. BC; 10-8
3. WINNIPEG; 9-9
4. EDMONTON; 8-10
5. CALGARY; 8-10

EAST
1. HAMILTON; 11-7
2. MONTREAL; 11-7
3. TORONTO; 8-10
4. OTTAWA; 4-14

Toronto, of course, needs to win out. But can still do this if healthy. Getting Kelly, Coxie, Daniels back would be helpful. But Hamiton, Calgary snd Saskatchewan can all be had IMO. None of them are better than Toronto to any large degree.

Assumptions;
Calgary loses out
Edmonton goes 2-1
BC goes 2-1
Winnipeg goes 1-2
Ottawa loses out
Saskatchewan goes 2-2
Montreal goes 3-0
Hamilton goes 2-1
The Argos can keep themselves in the playoff hunt simply by winning this Saturday's game. If they're in the playoff hunt heading into their final two games the season, then anything is possible.

True, except I was hoping for a healthy Arbuckle and/or available Chad Kelly for this next game, as well as, returning players like Coxie, Daniels, etc over the remaining 2 games after that. Without those players healthy I'm not sure they can score the necessary points to win games.

Never mind about scoring enough points. If our defense can't put pressure on Bo Levi Mitchell and he can just stay in the pocket, he will shred the secondary. Just like last time at BMO. Get BLM out of the pocket, and out of his comfort zone, and he is a lot less effective.

You mention the last time they played at BMO, but the Argos D played well in a hostile environment on Labour Day. Mitchell & Kenny Boy just had everything go well the last time they met in Toronto.
