I’d like to see us get one of the top WRs and DBs in this draft, but they would be too big a reach at #2. Gotta go with one of the sure thing OL at #2, I’d love to see Meiga at #11, then the top DB at #16.

Marshall Ferguson has the Argos drafting a MLB at #2. At one time I respected Marshall.

Again - I like Marshall as a PBP announcer on TSN's CFL telecasts. But, some or a lot of his comments on CFL rosters or the draft, on the CFL site, range from iffy / WTF to downright embarrassingly bad.

Not talking about hot-dogs, so ...,

My hopes for first 4 Argo draft picks (and likely not even close to reality):

1) #2- Nate DeMontagnac - receiver (N. Dakota) - good size, Mississauga guy, athletic tester; big Argo area of need. Don't see a concensus #1 type at receiver this draft, and he might still be available when Argos pick at #11

2) #11- Amari Notice - DT (Coastal Carolina) - very sparse DT crop this draft; not sure he will still be there at #11; another big Argo need

3) #16 - Devynn Cromwell - DB (Michigan State / Guelph) - supposed super athletic testing #s; though injured somewhat as his Pro Day testing, so a concern there; maybe could challenge for starting safety soon, or provide depth at all D backfield spots; if he is too much of a question due to injury recovery status, then still go DB (a few very solid prospects)

4) #22 - Alassane Diouf - OG (Montreal) - i have said the Argos don't need to prioritize O-linemen this draft, but in a strong/deep O-line crop this draft, Diouf has not drawn much talk/notice (though scouts might have other ideas) so if he is still there at #22 it would be awesome; 3 time first team all_Canadian on a 2 time Vanier winning team - IMO projects as a possible long time CFL starting OG and all-star

Can't argue with OV's list of draft choices. There are some good receivers available in this draft but DeMontagnac would also be my first choice of the receivers. He has speed, size and has been described as being consistently reliable in catching the ball. I'm sure the Argos are doing an exhaustive examination of all potential players and will be better informed than us fans but it is still a fun exercise prognosticating who we feel should be selected. I gave my preferred choices in an earlier post but I doubt they will close to the team's actual selections.

Later rounds - diamonds / sleeper type hopes:

#30 - Weagbe Mombo - RB (Windsor) - 215 pound load, ran a 4.55 forty with a 10' plus broad jump at Combine; outstanding yds/carry average in the OUA last season

#31 - Ethan Stuart - DB (McMaster) - big 223 pound DB (so could move to LB perhaps) - put up some very impressive testing #s at Combine (superb set of 3 Cone & shuttle #s = outstanding agility/mobility); maybe a future safety but also ST muscle

#40 - Zachary Houde - receiver (StFX) - good size, solid tester, very good pass catching production as a 2 time AUS all-star (scouts have a dim view there mostly IMO) - was at Invitational but did not get invited to main Combine

#49 - Marcus Tenney - DT (Laurier) - OUA all-star who put up a super strong 29 bench reps at the Invitational (why he did not move on to the Main where they were so lacking in DTs = ?)

Good suggestions by OV regarding later round selections. Tenney performed very well at the Invitational Combine--not sure what they saw that caused them not to move him on to the full combine. Another name that might be considered in the later rounds is Tristan Marois. He tested very well and based on his experience at Colorado, could contribute on special teams right away

I wouldn't mind seeing the team going heavy on DB's. I think that was another area of weakness last season.

I ask again: what is up with the 2 DBs the Argos drafted last year - Assibo-Dadzie (all-Canadian corner), and D. Masukas - why are they not signed for TC? Gave up on the Argos or the new regime has no interest ?

The Argos, with their revitalized football operations department, are putting in a lot of hard work preparing for the upcoming draft: https://www.argonauts.ca/2026/04/14/hog ... the-draft/
