I've got a pile of data showing he's extremely comparable, stats-wise, to Greer, Fernandez and David Williams, all of whom (belatedly) got inducted into the Hall. His candidacy is definitely worthy and overdue for both honours.
Not as if Fernandez was an angel off the field.

I'm confident that's why it took so long for him to be inducted. I don't think he could even get across the border for a while. I assume holding him back until that was resolved was why it also took so long for Greer to get in, since they were (appropriately, I would say) inducted together.

It feels unfair to make wait Greer because he needed to go in with Fernandez.

Brazley was a gem. If you go back and watch the video of the 1991 Argos season that season ticket holders received in the 1992 season as a gift (very well done by the way. What you would expect from a Candy owned team). Brazley was front and centre. Very funny, engaging and clearly a leader of the team. The 1991 team is remembered for offence...Dunigan, Clemons, Rocket, Smith, etc, but that defence was hall of fame too and Brazley was a key piece.

That Glory Days video is on YouTube.

Brazley was also one of the few players on both the 1983 and 1991 Grey Cup winning teams.

Brazley started the Ottawa and was the Cornerback who got lit up by Terry Greer in the 1982 East Final. Obie still saw something in him and brought him to Toronto the following season.
Getting lit up by Terrence Greer was not uncommon however when you catch over 2,000 yards in a 16 game schedule.

Brazley actually started his career with Montreal in 1980, and was traded late that season to Ottawa.

I agree it was an injustice, but I think the bigger injustice was that their relatively short careers were held against them. Both guys were up here for only six years. Flutie -- who, like Greer and Fernandez, was so good the NFL eventually came for him -- got in immediately after eight years in Canada, but G and F had to wait decades. IMO the Hall has too often been a hall of longevity more than of excellence. There is no chance IMO that any coach in his right mind would choose Terry Vaughn in his prime over either Greer or Fernandez in their primes, but Vaughn (who played in the CFL for 12 years) got in just five years after he retired, and eight years BEFORE Greer and Fernandez went in.

Thanks for the update Paul. So was Obie his Secondary coach in Ottawa before he took the Argo head coaching job?

Yes, O'Billovich would have coached Brazley in Ottawa.

Brazley got brought to Toronto midway through the 1983 season.
