Gittens would be ideal.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 4:03 pm We don't really *need* him, but I wouldn't turn down Wynton McManis if the cost wasn't too high. And I would love to get Gittens back -- we are one injury (to Mital or Ungerer) away from a major ratio issue.

I highly doubt Tre Ford would solve a short yardage issue seeing as how it was reported he balked at being the short yardage guy in Edmonton.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 6:14 pm Tre Ford, would solve our short yardage issues. Why they did not use him during the 2 point OT last weekend is head scratching.

He's 34 on an expiring contract. That's not getting you much.OV Argo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 6:03 pm Scott Hutter - veteran safety (started for the EE a few years back and led them in tackles), played some (picked off Chad Kelly twice in the game in Ottawa earlier this season), and started last few games for Dinwid. Doubt he is in Ottawa's future plans (?); could provide some vet smarts for the secondary and play in some packages (Bolden could move up where Slwyka is being deployed now and where his tacking & hitting would be good).
The moron Ticats just gave up Howsare (their D player of the year last season) for just a swap of 2 spots late in the draft ??? What a steal for the Als; be nice to see the Argos get a similar steal for a GC run.
Hutter doesn't interest me. I'd much rather have Addae from their secondary.

TSN Trade Central runs from 10 a.m. to 6. Unfortunately, Rogers has scaled back its coverage this year and is running only 1-5 p.m.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 4:07 pm I am taking the day off work tomorrow specifically because of the CFL Trade Deadline.
Re: Anyone you'd want from the shitty teams?
A number of teams in a very trendy, copy-cat league have found their very successful short yardage type of QB. And most of them are big body, powerful strong guys: Stevens for the Riders is a beast; Vaughn for the Stamps is similar (and both of those guys have QB experience so they could throw on a trick play there, but that seems lost on their OCs?); Horvath for BC is not a QB but a big bruiser; the Ticats have 6-7 Dolegala whose height/reach makes him capable; rookie but former UFL MVP Perkins has done very well for the Bombers and has the wheels to break a big gainer.
After that, the other teams do not have such a type it seems; Fajardo stays in for the EE, and he's OK; Ottawa has used a rookie QB in Barnes who is not big and does not look comfortable in the role; the Als brough back vet back-up Caleb Evans (formerly with Ottawa) to do the job after they were going with Bombers reject Terry Wilson, who did not look good doing it. And that leaves the Argos with the smallish / not athletic Arbuckle or young Horn to try to get it done. IMO, the Argos shoulda by now found a better goal-line/ short yardage sneak QB, and they should be looking for one for next season.
The other alternative is a big power fullback who takes a hand-off from a QB under C for most of those situations (former Ticat Julian Radlein was a beast and almost unstoppable when they used him there, and that was what - 10 or more years ago?); but in a same thinking / standard ways & look league, that is very unlikely to happen anymore.

Maybe that was due to his situation in Edmonton. It's possible in a different situation he would accept that role. IE - playoff push, and being part of a contender knowing its for 6 weeks, and next year is a different opportunity. I am not expecting it to happen, he's not the big body guy, but his freakish athleticism, could certainly help in short yardage and goalline scenarios. You would have Kelly, Arbuckle and Ford. Quite the QB room for 6 weeks.AngeloV wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 6:59 pmI highly doubt Tre Ford would solve a short yardage issue seeing as how it was reported he balked at being the short yardage guy in Edmonton.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 6:14 pm Tre Ford, would solve our short yardage issues. I’m good with who we have. Arbuckle if you didn’t know has been perfect on all his QB sneak conversions this season.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 8:02 pmMaybe that was due to his situation in Edmonton. I have always liked Arbuckle as an Argo. He's the best backup in the league. Did not know he has been perfect. I thought there had been some fails to pick up the yard. But maybe I'm thinking about horrendous play calls on 3rd and 1, like lining up in shotgun, or handing ball off which are not QB sneaks.AngeloV wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2026 8:10 pmI’m good with who we have. I don’t think we’re getting anyone
