Re: CFL TV Ratings Decline

I think at times the league struggles to know what it wants. Some days it seems like driving their TV ratings is the primary focus (the Thursday night games for example typically draw poorer) and other times it does seem like they look to appealing game times for the gate revenue.ARGOFanIan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 7:33 am Think Good news is these afternoon games... get good crowds... Bomber and I think Ticat games were both sold out...even our playoff game had a good crowd which is massive for us... Think if you want a better TV ratings you have to play in the evening... Having a good crowd right now , playing at fan friendly times is really important...
The league's TV contract is up after next season (I think). I am sure they would sorely love to start getting a much larger media deal. While the CFL doesn't hold a candle to some of the other major sporting leagues in North America, seeing what those league's bring in, and most importantly the huge percentage of revenue growth from contract to contract, must have the CFL really hoping to get something with a significant increase.
A healthy increase in what they collect for rights could go a long way to making them less gate reliant. It could also go a long way to trying to get a more attractive salary cap ceiling. To say I am intrigued over the TSN/Bell contract expiring, and what comes next, is an understatement lol.
