With Chop Villiams down, and McMahon they're playing Brown. The run game is non existent. It is tough they let Carey go. And he's not getting time with Saskatchewan. Anyone down for trading to get him back? He fit in perfectly here with what the Argos do offensively. Are those younger guys we kept better than him? I think they made the wrong choice here. Eventually he will need to be replaced, but you have to know what you've got is better. And these guys are not that.
Trading away DANIEL ADEBOBOYE also looks to have been a big mistake as well
I think the new owners have to wear the offseason trades (Dejon Allen trade as well) IMO.

Last I heard, Carey was on Saskatchewan's practice roster; the Argos could just try plucking him from there.
It's too early to say that Williams isn't good enough. He has flashed some ability but hasn't gotten the ball enough in the rushing game to draw any conclusions.

It really has little to do with the RB’s. The o-line run blocking has been dreadful.

I assume everyone here understands that there is no "saving" from putting someone on the 6-game. The $200k owing to Kelly for six games still gets paid to Kelly, but doesn't get charged against the cap. That means the team has the ability to spend an extra $200k without it being charged against the cap, but doing so would mean spending $400k in real dollars. If money is tight, who's to say MLSE would approve such an unbudgeted expenditure?
Question: Even though Kelly wasn't 6 gamed, if does end up not playing 6 games do the Argos have that extra $200K to use?
No, they don't. He would have had to be placed on the 6-game injury list and stayed there for the full 6 games to see any cap savings. He wouldn't have been able to practise until before the 6th game either.

No they do not because he was practicing with the team.

I agree. Dylan Giffen is known as an excellent run blocker. Whenever he is healthy enough, I wonder if he gets into the starting lineup, perhaps at the expense of Vandal who hasn't seemed quite as good this year.

Sadly, the days of Bill Stephenson, Tom McKee, and Al McCann are long gone. Stephenson used to annoy Pat Marsden at times with how often he would chime in with important information.
I think that has more to do with teams not revealing anything than it does the networks not wanting to get the info. We’re living in the days of upper and lower body injuries now. No specifics.
I totally agree with the secrecy these days, but couldn't the sideline reporter simply point out (or even regular cameras) Williams in his street clothes?
I wasn't expecting him to return but still it's more important than talking about Pat McAffree during a key 2nd down stop by the Argo D for example.
I don’t know. I am not bothered by it at all, but you and I have discussed this before.

Playing that blowhard McAfee's clip and missing a key Argo stop really pissed me off. McAfee reminds me too much of Luke Willson, who I think is taking up too much oxygen these days.

I thought i heard some O-line heads were going to roll out of town after last game ?
The Argos offensive coaching's lack of respect for the ground game this season so far - especially with Chad Kelly out - is very troubling IMO; and pretty well any decent RB needs a bunch of carries to get going; now maybe Chop doesn't have it for the CFL but I know Kevin Brown does. Unless you are down by about 3 TDs heading into the 4th there is zero reason to abandon the run, but a lot of CFL deep thinkers will defer to mostly pass, including 4 yard check downs, or dangerous short passes way across the field (those 3 yard hitches out wide are cringe worthy, and remind me of what happened in Ottawa last season with Kelly throwing a gift pick 6).
Ottawa beat the Stamps (in rainy conditions mind you) with more run than pass - 3 headed attack with a mobile QB and 2 good RBs - so why not follow up with more of that against the Argo D? - did they think Crum magically became this great pocket passer ? and the Riders just killed BC with more run play calls than passing. And the Als got killed by the wimpy Pussycats with "experienced" MBT trying to throw all the time and no run game ? That this is mostly lost on some CFL offensive coaches and those who report on the CFL is very odd or curious, but maybe not surprising.

I can think of a reason to abandon the run that does not involve being down by three touchdowns. You do it when your o-line is getting manhandled each and every time you try to run. Which is what was happening last night.
