Moving on from Dejon Allen and Kadeem Carey voluntarily in the midst of non-voluntary losses of key personnel is definitely hurting this team right now. Carey had a knack for picking up yardage and making key plays and was a strong veteran presence. Allen is a dominant lineman and would be welcome right now in stabilizing the line. It would be good to know who green lighted those decisions. Lots of moves have been made over the last 3 years and the Argo depth and on field performance did not suffer. These moves were a bridge too far this year. Some have speculated that the moves were due to new ownership not allowing money to be spent. It would be interesting to to find out. The dollars involved are rounding errors for Rogers, so if true this is too bad. I would be the first person to throw them under the bus because their track record as a company on all things Argo is brutal to say the least. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt because I don't think Argo conversations even occur at Rogers. The buck likely stops at Keith Pelleys desk, and I think he would give Pinball the leeway he needs to operate the team as he sees fit.

My opinion is that Rogers does not want to hang on to the Argos long-term, and has tightened the purse strings in all of its sports ops. Shanahan not being replaced, and Ujiiri possibly being replaced internally (and undoubtedly his replacement will make less money than he did), would seem to reflect tighter budgeting within MLSE. Although the Argos are a flyspeck on the books, I'm confident Pelley came in promising to bring careful scrutiny to the expenditures of every team, and possibly with a promise to steer the Argos closer to break-even (perhaps to position them better to be sold?), which would mean lowering the internal expense cap. Letting Allen go had to be a salary dump; Carey's departure makes even less sense since he wasn't making that much money. Both look like mistakes from a football standpoint, but business might be the prevailing standpoint these days.

I hope there is a buyer out there similar to Doman, Young, PKP for the Argos. Someone willing to finally put in the effort to move the team forward. I still believe we haven't seen on field success coupled with strong marketing management since 1991. That is the only way to move the needle in Toronto where there are so many options for the entertainment dollar.

I have little to no trust in Rogers as the owners of the Argonauts.
I think more than ever they are nothing more than an afterthought in the grand scheme of things, sad part is who would buy them at this point.
Keith Pelley is nothing more than a corporate windbag who tends to say a lot and say very little at the same time, once again wouldn’t trust the guy.
The player ops department certainly isn’t what it was a couple of years ago which will (and probably has already) adversely affect the product on the field.
You have to wonder how a team that has had so much success the last three seasons or so has had so many players go elsewhere, could simply be financial but certainly is a head scratcher.
I said it a couple of weeks ago the time to start winning is Saturday, the dreaded crossover is certainly in play as things sit right now.

According to CFL.ca Transactions, RB Spencer Brown (or his rights) who was acquired this week for an 8th round pick has been Deleted.

Good thing that pick was conditional, I guess.

I am certain I saw Brown on the practice roster for a day or two and was surprised he was released so soon.
