When I was a little kid, Dick Shatto phoned our house to ask to speak to me, after my parents had wrote him / the Argos saying what a big fan i was (was out and missed the call - maybe the cat's fault); i did wear a football helmet (with #22 taped on likely) to see Dick & the Argos play at Lansdowne and got razzed by some Ottawa fans.
That's actually a good story. Sucks you missed the call though. Damn cat. Hard to stay mad at them for too long though.
Actually is a true story - the phone call part - my 89 year old Mom can still recall and tell the story (says she nearly dropped the phone when she found out who was calling); not sure if we had a cat back then; we did get a subsequent letter from Mr. Shatto - wish I had got to hang onto it, but you would need a warehouse to store all the stuff you treasured as a kid and thru life, and don't think sports collectibles were much of a thing back then - my CFL, NHL and MLB cards from back in the 60s into the 70s would be worth a small fortune now if i had kept them all.
If it were me and I still had that letter, it would definitely be framed and hanging on the wall next to the Argos banner haha.
I too am kicking myself for not holding on to the sports cards and stuff I had as a kid. They probably wouldn't be worth much but it would be nice to look through the collection once every few years.

Ha, ha. RPO's with an emphasis on the QB to take off are a real feature of all CFL offences for sure; just like tight ends and fullbacks are too.
Lame reply..
60s and 70s offences are never coming back. Try living in the present, old man.
I'll suggest you actually learn to watch and understand football; instead of trotting out feeble cliches you were sold - Glen Suitor or some other expert told ya ?
Cliches is ironic. You've been using the same ones for over 20 years.

So I was glad that the Argos came out with a better game in the second half to defeat the cats. I was worried that after the strong start it wouldn’t happen.
As for Tre Ford ….as a Canadian QB I hope he still progresses …..just not against the Argos .
I recall reading or hearing that Cody Fajardo had chatted with Tre Ford regarding learning alot under Milanovich. When you look at Callaros, Trevor Harris and Fajardo they all came in under Milanovich with the Argos ……so hopefully it helps Tre Ford improve Only missing link is the Argos

If it has a grass component, it has a dirt component. And yet no mud, no slipping and not even any noticeable divots. Sure, the technology helps, but grass doesn’t get this pristine without careful tending.
Actually these modern hybrid fields don’t use dirt, the grass grows on a deep layer of crushed stone, with an elaborate system of drainage pipes underneath. So no mud, no pooling, ever.
Thanks for the correction, Rich, but there is also a layer of sand, correct? I don't see how grass (which it mostly is, as I understand it) could grow on just stone, but I'm certainly no scientist.
I’m not a scientist either Paul, but I play one on the internet

Ford after all, is the 2nd Canadian trained QB to actually get to compete for and gain real playing time in the "radical" league in around 50 years or so (Greg Vavra won the Stamps starting job out of TC in 84 and then ended up on a couple of other CFL teams for a bit). Every half century or so should do.
The real test will be what happens to Elgersma, who by any measure is a better QB than Ford. It speaks to how far Canadian football has fallen out of the national consciousness that more wasn’t made of his amazing achievement of being a USports QB getting a full long look at an NFL camp.

And we’ve had to put up with your gratuitous hostility for even longer so I guess it’s a wash.

Elgersma has fallen to 4th on the Bummers depth chart / not dressing, since they reacquired Dru Brown and Collaros got healthy, and Bryce Perkins is handling short yardage duties quite well. Elgersma may be in the plans for the future when Collaros rides off, but I wouldn't bet on it; he could have a decent CFL career as a back-up, and if he gets to start at some point it would have to be instant success like.
As far as him being a better QB than Ford - maybe as a better strong arm, pure passer - but he has little mobility in comparison. IMO, recent Q all-star + Vanier & Hec winning QBs Arnaud Desjardins & Jon Senecal were better all around QBs than either Ford or Elgersma (in U Sports ball anyhow) - both got a cup of coffee sort of look with the Als, but IMO this was more a PR stunt or extra arm for TC thing by Maciocia; as if either of them couldn't be kept over a total stiff like James Morgan, or be developing and handling short yardage instead of Bombers reject Terry Wilson.
And as far as Canadian QB recognition, been hearing Michael O'Connor's name mentioned with Canada's flag team competing (with LaPo as HC); funny though that not a single CFL media guy (TSN types, 3 Down reporters) I've heard from can ask how is this guy playing QB still when he basically vanished without a trace from the CFL, after starting one game for an injured Rourke in BC in 2022, and then supposedly got injured himself that game, never to play in the CFL again. ? Shhhh, don't ask those kind of questions.

Every single person on this forum is a condescending prick, including myself.
We're not going to change anyone's long-standing opinions, so let's all just chill out for a bit until we find another topic to argue about.

FALSE! He's been posting on CFL forums longer than me, and I'm confident the majority of regular posters don't consider me hostile.
But I appreciate that you agree with my assessment of OV.
