So what? The Buffalo Sabres play the Canadian anthem at every one of their home games.
The Buffalo Sabres are one of the worst teams in the history of the NHL and North American professional sports. They hold the record for the longest playoff drought in league history, as well as the most consecutive playoff losses. The team has never won a championship.

The Argos would do best to avoid any kind of similarity with the Buffalo Sabres.

Appealing to "business" sense or principles is just swell and all - if you are a small c zealot, or if you believe CFL / Canadian football is just a simple business like any other - sort of like selling widgets or fruit at the local farmer's market. Also if you are a true believer in the CFL BOG crying poor schtick year after year after year now. MLSE just can't afford to carry or market the Argos; gotta save ca$h to pay 3 million dollars a season to a 4th line mediocre grinder on the Leafs.

People are free to believe in any fairy tales they like; pretty common in the internet / social media times now. The BOGoofs are counting on you !!!
Were you asleep back then? The CFL almost did die post-1986. Montreal folded days before the '87 season; Calgary and Saskatchewan needed telethons to survive; Ottawa was rumoured to be on the brink of collapse, and later died twice. The league has taken temporary ownership of teams several times.

American expansion money and a loan from the NFL kept the league afloat in the 1990s and early 2000s until TSN investment, league-wide spending controls, and the salary cap stabilized the league, which led to new or upgraded stadiums.

But even that era is dead. Pro sports is now about increasing revenues and franchise value. Good chance that WPG and SASK eventually go private (Bombers almost did). The CFL landscape you are pining for, when it actually was just a simple business, is gone forever and is never coming back.

Then, maybe, a new pro league of Canadian football could be formed up here. American wannabes need not apply. Enshrined key Canadian rules, and a majority of players on rosters are Canadians. Maybe Doman in BC could be convinced to join, if the new & improved CFL does not work out for him.
Such a new league would still require its own rich owners, available stadiums, and a media deal that could pay guys enough to make it worth their while. What's your business plan to make that happen? And would the ever increasing number of Canadian kids who go down to American colleges or even high schools qualify as "American wannabees" that need not apply? Those players are antithetical to the Canadian ethos of the league you are proposing.
Yeah but don’t let the facts spoil a good rant…lol.

Good Lord. What does that have to do with anything? Personally, I have been on record as saying there is no need for anthems at sporting events period, but this fake patriotism is just getting annoying.

I know I haven't chased away contributing members of this forum for good over political ideology but that doesn't mean my patriotism and convictions are fake.
