It will be interesting to see where (if) he lands. I'd think BC and Wpg are the two most likely destinations. Calgary and Sask are pretty loaded at receiver, Edm won't take him back. In the East, Tor, Mtl and Ham are all in pretty good shape at receiver He'll have to accept a (perhaps significantly) lower salary than what he had with Ottawa no matter where he goes.

I hate to do this, but I give credit to AV for calling this a week or 2 ago.

Somebody likely signs him; Lewis has had a fine CFL career. He should have been the odd man out in Ottawa - Hardy, Pimpleton, Eberhardt all doing more and so has former 1st rounder K. White, plus they recently got back from injury a previous 1st rounder in Mardner; so, bigger $ contract for a guy who is not what he once was, does not make sense. Some scape-goating by Dinwid a maybe factor as well.

Guess he could help a team in a play-off run and that has injury/depth issues, but he is more like a 5th receiver option in a 5 pack; not even close to an oft targeted receiver anymore - no real speed or YAC ability / drops plenty of catchable balls, but comes up with some difficult jump / 50-50 ball grabs with a horrible catch to target ratio; but hey, some CFL commentators still see Kenny Lawler as this superstar, best in the league type.

I get the move to release Lewis and agree with it. He’s 33, isn’t exactly making big plays anymore (maybe not getting enough opportunities) and is very highly paid at a reported $210k. At 0-7, there is no reason to keep him around, and would be better off playing Mardner.
With the success the Elks have had this year, this move is making Ed Hervey continue to look good.

Your sympathy level is right on in regards to Dinwiddie, I do feel bad for the Ottawa fans having to suffer through a season like this.
I’ve had many Argonauts seasons like this in my lifetime which isn’t fun!

Those fans definitely have suffered a ton, and it goes back 50 years with just a few good seasons sprinkled in. The fanbase seems to be dwindling, so getting this turned around is very important. Whether Dinwiddie and Burke are the guys to do it is highly, highly debatable.

If they can't win next week in Wpg (which won't be easy, with Bombers coming off a bye and determined not to have a losing record at home), 0-10 is all but certain and 0-18 starts to become a serious possibility.

I wonder who Dinwiddie holds accountable this week, certainly won’t be himself.

Maybe they can tie that Ticats 1 & 17 record from a number of years back?

Dinwid in way over his head; the guy knows how to run a good CFL pass attack, so he might be an ideal OC / QB coach for a lot of teams; but he has no clue about the importance of a ground game mostly, and I doubt he knows much if anything about coaching or putting together a good defence. And as a HC he looks like a clown/baby on the sidelines often, and throwing players under the bus, in public, when losses are on him ? And why did he need to be GM - what is his big personnel know-how or experience ?

Sad to see what is happening in Ottawa - losing fans and it likely gets worse. The blame still falls with the owners though who make the hires to run their football team = typical clueless, same old, rich guy morons who know zip about the sport they are involved in. And they do next to nothing - that i see - to market or promote their football team here (same old game day perks for fans who are already going).
