You are both SO right. It was a great atmosphere, and a fantastically entertaining game. In my section, fans literally jumped out of their seats on some of the big plays, and the TV replays showed the same thing when I re-watched the game. How anyone could go down there and not have a great time is hard to imagine.
AND YET.... on my way home on the GO train, when I went to get off, there was a guy wearing a Buffalo Bills cap who saw me in my Argo gear, and the first thing he says is "it's been 40 years since my last CFL game and it will probably another 40 years until I go again". I asked him what he was talking about, and he said something about it being bush league with no defense. So I said that he probably preferred that juggernaut of a game between the Jets and Texans, or the Browns and anybody.... no response. And then no response again when I said if the Bills beat the Bengals 41 - 38, he would say it was the greatest display of offensive football ever. A nice enough guy, in the end, we parted on good enough terms but for the life of me, I just don't get the attitude some people have about the CFL. Great athletes playing at a super high level delivering a fantastic product.
Nice to have a civil discussion with the guy, but nothing you could say is going to change the mind of most of those gullible dupes & ignoramuses - who have been led like sheep or lemmings by much of our media up here, for decades.

Yep - and I'm a long-time NFL fan (almost as long as I've been a CFL fan) but the NFL is a distant 2nd (more like 3rd) in terms of football interest or love for me.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 7:00 pmI don’t disagree OV, nothing wrong with being a fan of the NFL but feeling the need to call down the Canadian league to make yourself feel like a big shot is beyond pathetic.OV Argo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 1:38 pmNFL fan-boy wannabeness is a disease in this country, and has spread like wildfire in certain parts of our map.RB957 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 1:24 pm Just wanted to respond to the last two posts from ARGOFanIan and TrueBlueGuy.

The fan-boy types who feel need to mock or cut-down the CFL are mostly pathetic little wimps who never played the game; if u like the NFL or American ball better, that's fine, just keep your big wannabe mouth shut instead of disrespecting the CFL - in it's own frickin' country.
But again, a lot of these types are creations of our moron / "Major League" wannabe media types up here - and that is beyond pathetic.

I’ve been an NFL fan as well since the late 1970’s but above all loved going to Argonauts games with my dad.OV Argo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 7:58 pmYep - and I'm a long-time NFL fan (almost as long as I've been a CFL fan) but the NFL is a distant 2nd (more like 3rd) in terms of football interest or love for me.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 7:00 pmI don’t disagree OV, nothing wrong with being a fan of the NFL but feeling the need to call down the Canadian league to make yourself feel like a big shot is beyond pathetic.OV Argo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 1:38 pm

I love football but the CFL has always been #1 in my books, having said that if someone likes the NFL and not the CFL that is their prerogative but you are correct keep your mouth shut and enjoy what you want.

The CFL hater will always let you know that they dislike the CFL. It's quite the interesting (and frustrating) phenomenon.

It's been predictable, but still sad to see our country's embrace of the NFL over time. Lazy media, and humans propensity to want to be told how to think versus thinking for themselves.
I will enjoy NFL football for what it is once the CFL season is over.
