I just don't get the attitude of a big CFL fan & supporter who would pay good or big buck$ for GC tickets, to turn around and whine IF the host team has to reduce prices in order to hopefully sell-out the game. What - are u jealous that somebody got into the game for cheaper than you? Nobody forced you to pay big buck$ and buy an early ticket, so wait like others for a sale reduction if that's your attitude. Would you begrudge the league or host for having ticket give-aways to worthwhile charities ?
Suck-it up buttercup and stick with just supporting the best thing for the league - even if just for the one biggest game.
So you would personally be fine if this happened to you, and not feel like a dupe?

There are still LOTS of tickets available for the game, which I found a bit surprising, and disheartening to be honest. It looks like some sections in the upper bowl are half empty. Sheesh.
As of the beginning of the week, over 49k of the 54k available seats had been accounted for, so it shouldn't be bad at all.
Having said that, in a stadium of that size there should be a good chunk of seats that are priced lower and that isn't the case (as I understand it).
Also, it seems like, prior to the 1990s, being able to attend a Grey Cup whether your team was in the big game or not was a huge deal. Then, starting in the 1990s, it seemed like that wasn't good enough for many anymore. The high costs of tickets may also factor into that.

1996 was an embarrassment. Hopefully it doesn't come to that point again. I
Greedy, gouge GC ticket prices (even all the furthest / weakest seats) have been the norm for some time, no ?
And this is what pisses off people that buy their tickets early. Guaranteed they will be having a fire sale for the remaining tickets for $50-100 come this weekend.
Given that that didn't seem to happen in Regina two years ago, I'd be surprised. Obviously the Lions can do whatever they want but I doubt this becomes another 1996 Tim Hortons giveaway scenario.

It would be a bad move to undersell tickets at the last minute. Why would anyone in the future buy them early, knowing they will be heavily discounted later on. Even though this is the "national football championship", the market seems to be saying that the overall price for Grey Cup is too high. On the other hand, while it might make more sense if you wanted fill the house with bodies to lower the prices in general, maybe at the higher prices, their net revenue is better even with the empty seats. Because in a cash strapped league, money talks. Who knows the right answer, leave that to the bean counters. It just looks like s*&t on TV with both national and international broadcasting of the game.
At some point in the last 10 years or so, the model changed from having lots of available seats, with many lower-priced, to having less capacity but pricing the hell out of those seats.

Reading the coach's comments regarding how the team replaced players who left, made me think about how well that was accomplished. When one considers the number and quality of the departing players, it is really impressive how the team has found players who have risen to the occasion. Again the team's recruiting has been very impressive. And all that done without their number 1 QB for half of the season. Regardless of the Grey Cup result, this has been a successful year.

Just can't fall behind early.
If I'm O'Shea, I would go after Arbuckle and force him to beat me. I would throw knock-out blow deep routes to Lawler and attempt to make Toronto chase me on the scoreline. Force them to go one dimensional with their offence.
Argos need to weather the storm. Argos need to grind out drives and eat up time of possession. Argos need to tilt the field with their punt/kick/return advantages. Defenders and specialists need to steal the ball and hopefully factor in the scoring. Unsettle their quearterback, get after him and disrupt his timer. Wear them down and create a situation where our 3 running backs can see the game out for us in the late game.
It's a lot.

They will need to play a near flawless game to succeed on Sunday.
You laid it out pretty clearly.
Having said this I usually get quite anxious heading into a big game like the Grey Cup but am feeling quite relaxed this time around, IMO all the pressure lies with Winnipeg who are highly favoured to win on Sunday.
The Toronto Argonauts are huge underdogs for obvious reasons, hopefully they come out loose and let it fly on Sunday.

The two factors that I'm going home to light candles for are the ones we need to bring it home. All of the Double Blue faithful should say a prayer that the Any Given Sunday factor and most of all The Argo Bounce sends our boys their favor.

Not sure that a break-down of position group match-ups between the 2 teams would lead to the Bummers being favored - unless this is mostly about the Argos without Kelly, and thus Arbuckle vs. Collaros.
Otherwise, IMO, the only other match-ups the Bummers might come out ahead on is D backfield. Argos better at D-line, LB corps, return game, kicking game, O-line and receiving corps; run game might be a tie, with Oliveira likely the best RB in the league, but the Argos able to play 3 RBs equals or betters him.
That being said, this game comes down to coaching smarts, play-calling and adjustments, IMO
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgoooooooooooooos !!!
