Thanks for the updated roster AV that cleared up some of my questions. One other roster change that I noticed is that DT Jordan Williams is now on the PR in favor of rookie DT Ralph "Hard Core" Holley.

Is it just me... or are most of the towel and water carriers on the Argonauts sidelines... beautiful young girls?... is the team trying to compensate for that unpleasantness earlier in the year? Lol

That's weird. Why wouldn't Edmonton try for the FG before halftime? Because there's wind? So what? This is Bede's old back yard, let him take a whack at it. Poor call by Jones.

Our DBs are getting torched. Macbeth really picking on the new guys. Why isn't our Dline getting any pressure?

I agree with the question about the defensive line. It's almost like the defensive coaches decided that that they were going to stop the run at all costs, and see if MBT could beat them with passing. The defensive line only had significant pressure a couple of times it seemed, and allowed MBT to get out of the pocket on other occasions. On some of the pass plays the defensive backs played so poorly you wonder what they were thinking (I am thinking of Metchie on that touchdown to Gittens for example).
And either some of the play calls by the Argos were incredibly stupid or the execution was very poor, or both.
If they play like this against Montreal I don't see how they can win.

The other team gets paid to play too and the Elks, offensively, played extremely well tonight. We should know as well as anyone how dangerous the likes of MBT, Leake, and Gittens Jr. are and they all played well on Saturday night. Add in strong performances by other ex-Argos like Shane Richards (in relief), Martez Ivey, and Boris Bede and Edmonton gave the Argos all they could handle.
Good teams find ways to win though and that's exactly what our Argos did. Offensively, you can't ask for any more than what Cam Dukes and the offence have been doing through the first two games. Yes, the defence had their struggles tonight but this is a well-coached team and I have full confidence that they will get their issues ironed out. We are only 1/9th of the way through the season and the Argos are 2-0. I look at next week's game against Montreal as a "measuring stick" game, like the opener against BC. The coaches will get much more information about where this team is currently and how far they have to go to get to where they want to be.
Also, given all of the injuries that the Argos have had, I will gladly take 2-0 to start the season. By the way, I can't say enough good things about Cam Dukes. He has been outstanding and I have full confidence in his ability to lead the offence through the 2024 season, if he has to.

Well said. The coaching staff is will make the necessary adjustments and will have a plan tailored for Montreal. It's early and the defence has already demonstrated they are capable in the game against BC.
That Dukes kid is pretty good! For as long as I can remember, losing the starting QB for an extended period of time was a disaster scenario for the Argos. I'm not sure if it's a because of a good system, good luck or a combination of the two, but it's amazing to see a backup take the reins and play like a quality starter.

Another thoroughly entertaining game.
Dukes remains cool, calm and collected, and the o-line is opening some huge holes for the RBs. It appears MacKellar has graduated to FT starter at RG; Ciraco did not get on the field. Nice to see a gadget play with Grant, but Dinwiddie almost outstarted himself with that terribly ill-advised option throw by McMahon. You do that in the opponents' end of the field, not your own 20. That was a stupid play call and it put the Elks right back into a game the Argos had been on the verge of taking control of.
For the second game in a row, the defence fell victim to some precision long-range passes. MBT was really on his game, and did not deserve to lose. The Elks were ultimately killed by two plays in the final three minutes -- that weak contacting-the-kicker penalty and the boneheaded decision by Leake not to see if Haggerty's punt would land in the end zone. It sure appeared to be heading there as it bounced, and while I know JH has already had two punts stay in play just shy of the goal-line this season, the smart play IMO would have been to try to give up the single, go down by a point and gain 40 yards of field position. With 1:30 left, there was every reason to think MBT could get the Elks 30 or so yards into Bede FG range. Before the punt, Jones and an assistant coach both raised their hands in a gesture that to my eyes seemed to be telling the two returners to give up a point if the opportunity arose. I think that was the right call.
Hilarious to watch not one but two Argos (separately) go into the tent to take a leak. It was blindingly obvious since the upper "windows" of the tent were open.

I don't understand Chris Jones' decision not to attempt a FG at the end of the first half. I cannot recall if it would have been into the wind however. The Argos didn't score on the drive where it was contacting the kicker, but it was very important in buying the Argos a few more yards and set-up the field position that ultimately won them the game. A few more observations:
1. Cam Dukes continues to impress. Makes the right decisions and shows poise.
2. Rushing for 186 yards as opposed to Edmonton's 35 was a crucial difference. Carey is awesome and both McMahon and Adeboboye are good reserves.
3. Dukes continues to spread the ball around. Brissett did go down which is of concern, but it was nice to see him form a bit of chemistry with Coxie yesterday.
4. The OL struggled a bit early, but the 186 rushing yards are a testament to the best OL in the league.
5. The DL misses Flo for sure.
6. Not necessarily concerned with Pierce-Metchie-Amos, but am concerned with Franklin-Johnson. I don't know how much longer the 2 CB experiment will last.
Always nice to be on the winning side of these types of games, but yesterday's performance will not be good enough to beat Montreal.

Disappointing to see 7,000 in attendance last night. A half hour prior, I was worried that about only 2,000 would attend.
The same week BC and Montreal sell out.
A couple of years ago, the 3 teams with attendance issues used to be BC, Montreal and Toronto. What they still have in common are talented teams that play entertaining football.
