That football genius Chris Jones had Duron Carter switch from receiver to corner and then back to receiver in the same season, but I don't think he played both ways in the same game; and I don't expect any player to play both ways in the same game anymore. But a big play potential / DB as receiver could be tried in a situation or two in the game, just like a return specialist who is not an overall complete receiver can be tried on offence for certain plays. If a team does not have much faith in all of it's starting 5 pack to be targeted plenty, especially deep, then can always try a speedy other position guy, perhaps.

Byron Parker saw spot duty at receiver (and scored one memorable deep TD) before he got firmly established at CB. I doubt Slywka would be much of a difference maker at receiver, and with the limited number of available practice reps under today's CBA rules, I doubt the Argos would muck around like that. Every rep on offence (and mtg with receivers and QBs) would be time taken away from his primary responsibility. But anything is possible.

Argos score first on their best drive of the season. But JJ Ouellette ties it up and is Making Football Fun Again.

Argos are losing this game in the trenches. Both OL and DL are having problems but there are some strange coaching decisions---close to the goal line Williams is replace by Brown???? On short yardage plays--why is Arbuckle in --why not Doege?

This is an excellent question. To their credit the DL seemed to tighten up in the second quarter a bit. But Luke Willson, love him or hate him, pointed out how poorly the Argos O-line was playing in the first quarter, losing pass rushes even though the Argos outnumbered the Riders D line. They will have to get a whole lot better for the Argos to have any chance in the second half.

You had to laugh the way this game ended. The Riders did their best to hand the Argos the game, and they refused to take the gift.
You can excuse the mostly poor offensive and defensive showing because of the injuries, but you can't excuse the inept coaching decisions.
With the beating Arbuckle took all game I wouldn't play Kelly till I was sure the offensive line could play a whole lot better.

I'll give the Argos credit for battling all the way but with all the players they have lost plus the recent injuries, they have to play close to error free football. Apparently, after tying the game, they only had 11 player on the kick off team--would that one player have made the difference ---we will never know but it was an error that should not have been made.

A few positive anyways:
Nick re-discovered his downfield passing arm and got that Mital & Brissett are very good targets - some real nice throws.
Lanier is a solid tough DT; the rest of the D-Line is basically sub-par for the CFL, IMO
Chop made a few tough runs
Real nice pick by Blackburn; he should be starting at safety IMO cause Slywka is often lost out there.
I like Darkangelo as a LB - guy has a motor, but he was maybe getting tired and beat-up against the run; why a very good LB talent like Varga was not given some reps to see what he could add? - maybe wrong passport though
Dankwah should get a shot to play OT; a couple of times when he was in on goal-line situations he blew his defender out; maybe wrong pass port though; ooops, sorry, should not be mentioning that - i could transfer those comments to the right thread
Wayyyy too many penalties, but at least a gritty comeback to tie the game.

I have never seen Ryan Dinwiddie as pissed off as he was in his post-game availability tonight. He was most pissed about the stupid, selfish penalties and said that he told the team that someone may be going home tomorrow as a result. He also said there was a blatant block to the back on the winning kick return that he couldn't challenge (I believe it was #43 of the Riders). He was also upset with how his o-line was beaten up on the one yard line and was especially critical of a 280 pound guard; he doesn't know what this guard was up to in the off-season. I think he is referring to Vandal but I am not sure. He did praise the likes of Mital and Brissett though.
