Hondy Indy brings a lot of money to town.. and doesn't need 400 Million in tax dollars to make the event happen. This is bad news for the City... but likely good news for us so I have mixed feelings about it. I also think World cup forced the event out.
Still wish we could play at one of the universities next year.... if it was at all possible. We desperately need an alternate fan friendly location in the GTA as I think these soccer tournaments are going to happen regularly... I hate to say.

I'm not sure how this aids anyone coming from Halton or Hamilton.
Umm.... drive to Kipling or Islington stations, both of which are not far off the QEW.
Someone coming from Burlington might as well just finish the drive to BMO and park.
That’s what we are going to do.

There is a GO bus that goes from Dundas Highway 407 park 'n ride. Leaves 1:02 and gets you to Kipling TTC at 2:20. You would have time to get to BMO for just around kick off. If you took an earlier bus, you could do any pre-game stuff you want. Bit of a trip, but no stress. Just a thought.

Another option to get downtown for those living closer to the 401 is to park at Pearson and take the UP Express to Union Station. I have done that to go to Leafs games, and it is very convenient. One stop on the GO to the Ex.
No matter what we do, getting to these games will be a bit of an adventure, that's for sure.

Canada has never hosted a WC until now and the next opportunity would be 2038. This tournament is rare with added stipulations. Others can be held at a normally configured BMO field, which they already do.

here's a thought. you can still take Via from Aldershot (Burlington-ish) to Union on that day (and then a short GO ride from there to Exhibition.). VIA trains are sneaking around a different route. avoiding Oakville, to get downtown.
you could leave Aldershot at 12:32, arrive Union at 13:51, and take GO over for the 3:00 game.
Then returning, leave Union at 19:45 and arrive Aldershot at 21:02
it's so crazy it just might work (at a cost higher than you're used to, alas)

The Jays open their playoff series on Saturday, probably at 3 p.m. It's gonna be challenging to get to BMO (again).

It was just announced on CTV News that GO service on Lakeshore West line will run normal this weekend.
Great news.

With Jays playing, they really had no choice here.

All is well that ends well. I actually ended up taking a GO Train from Rutherford --> Union --> Exhibition, which all told took about 1 h 9, which is maybe 15-20 minutes slower than driving on a weekday. It won't be a regular mode of transportation for me to get to Argo games, but it's nice to have the option.
