The Argos have announced two re-signings today - linebackers Jordan Herdman-Reed and, one of OV's favourites, Ryder Varga.
Maybe they resigned Varga to trade him back to BC for Allen.

I'd love to get Gittens, Ceresna and Smith back from Edm. Smith is not heading into free agency but will be released if he doesn't renegotiate his contract, I expect.
I don't think there is any chance Ceresna comes back. His wife has ties out west, and as we all know... happy wife, happy life.

Agreed.
Also, AJ Ouellette was never returning to Toronto either. I believe that the Argos offered similar money to the Riders but I suspect that Ouellette is much more comfortable in Saskatchewan from a non-football perspective than he was in Toronto. All this to say that there can be multiple reasons why a team loses a player to another team and money isn't always the biggest one.

Allen is a free agent so the Argos can have their cake and eat it too!

This is a huge re-signing. Good job by John Murphy here.

Ralph Holley news is much needed. Great to see Pinball front and centre in video.

It was actually Jordan who impressed me as much or more - playing linebacker (MLB) - when he first came into the league with the Lions, a good number of years ago; Varga had a fine season on the BC D in 24 (sorry for pointing that out though - guess that makes me a huge fan?). Veteran LBs who can play STs and back-up LBs - i'd guess they sign for pretty cheap or you could just draft LBs and pay them rookie CFL minimum to do the job ?
Nice to get Holley back - kinda odd he would not wait out the NFL season to maybe get a call there though ?

As for the signings of Varga and Herdman-Reed, the Argos last season played younger (and presumably cheaper) players on special teams which really hurt them, IMO. Getting both of them back should help on specials at the very least.
Strong re-signing in Holley. Hopefully, the Argos can get both Luiji Vilain and Paris Shand to help fortify the D-line, not to mention the ratio.
