I don't think the signing of one player disproves this possibility. We will see what happens in February.
Money talks, and Pinball convinces.

I doubt the World Cup deal will be a factor for most free agents.
I agree, I don’t think players coming in from the United States are going to be too concerned either way.
If anything an extended stay in Guelph will save the money on housing.
You are correct, money and getting a job talk.

For players who are single, sure. But what about veterans with partners, or kids? Are players who already live in Toronto going to want to live in a dorm for three months, or to commute each day? And once the WCup ends, newcomers will need to find extremely short-term accommodations, i.e. four months from August through November. That isn't easy. These logistical issues are not insignificant.

Pinball’s greatest strength is the human touch he brings to player negotiations. There’s nothing like the Pinball Effect, and it works successfully time and again. But it’s not exactly a full-time job in and of itself.
That's 100% correct. He's always been great at the art of friendly persuasion. His call closed the deal to sign Andrew Harris four years ago. But the organizational need for this skill is sporadic, not constant.

I don’t think it as big of an issue as you do but hey doomsday is coming correct?

Doesn't Pickett have a family?

I don't know about doomsday, but I do think this schedule is more than a minor inconvenience for all concerned.

I don't know. Maybe this will be a great bonding experience that pulls the team together. But I think anyone who enjoys living in a big city and/or likes living with immediate family will find this less than ideal. Time will tell, won't it?

I would assume so.
