Thanks and congrats to Will for getting this forum back up in time for the season opener. With such a difficult off-season as this franchise had, maybe a fresh reboot of this site will be good for all of us, even if unexpected and unplanned.

When you have the best offensive and defensive lines in the league, you have a chance to win every game, regardless of what else you have and this team still has a lot of talent and depth. It is also, quite clearly, very well-coached. I thought that Eiben and Fields called a solid defensive game and, most importantly, made the key second half adjustments that were necessary. The Argo defence only gave up 7 second half points and made Vernon Adams Jr.'s life miserable. They forced five turnovers on the night and had six sacks - they simply dominated that fourth quarter. They only gave up two offensive TDs, two FGs and a single in this game.

Offensively, what can you say? Dukes was nothing short of outstanding and I loved how he and the team bounced back from adversity in the second quarter when they were trailing 20-6 and Dukes had that fumble that was returned for a TD. The offence looked sharp and several newcomers played well, including Carey, Bailey and Polk. The only concern was too many two-and-outs in the fourth quarter with the common problem being losing yards on first down.

Special teams looked okay too, although I miss Boris Bede's deep kickoffs. Lirim Hajrullahu was great on FGs but missed two converts in almost the identical way. I am hopeful he will get that cleaned up though. Janarion Grant got better as the night progressed and I look forward to many excellent returns from him this season.

Overall, we can feel pretty good about this game tonight. It was an excellent measuring stick in playing the consensus pre-season Grey Cup favourite and the Argos were clearly the better team. MBT, Bede, Leake, Gittens and the Elks pay a visit following the bye week and that should be a very interesting evening. After a challenging off-season, I suspect that we have lots of good things ahead in this 2024 season.

No real surprise that the Argos won. BC usually had difficulty winning at BMO, especially the last couple seasons since Dinwiddie and CO arrived. Carey was a huge contributor running and receiving...he will benefit from a great line and system. Argos D line are going to be Mean...looks like Eiben/Fields are keeping their word about being aggressive.

Loved so much about this game. It was highly entertaining throughout, and a great test of character. The team fell behind by 14 points after a brief run of terrible play, yet bounced back almost immediately. And it didn't get demoralized even when Adams was hitting on some unbelievably accurate passes downfield.

The o-line was good, and the d-line was out of this world. Ceresna and Brinkman were extraordinary all night, Flo and Robbie made plays, even Hansen and Williams got involved. McManis was spectacular.

The secondary had some struggles. Pierce looked small a few times, but made a big play at the end.

Dukes looked extremely comfortable and composed, apart from a short stretch in the second quarter. He's going to be just fine. Carey runs very hard and very fast. Adeboboye shone in limited reps. Bailey and Polk can play, and we already knew that about Brissett and Nield.

Two concerns are injuries. Jones sat out the entire second half (replaced by Sopik, who looked fine) and Daniels missed a fair bit of the second half (replaced by Sindani, who looked fine). I'd hate to lose those two for an extended period.

Hugely entertaining game, and there's nothing I like better than closing out a win with a bunch of sacks. Credit to Dinwiddie and the offensive staff for calling a great game and preparing the QB. There were a few plays where Duke's 1st read downfield was clearly covered and he checked down or ran. Most young QBs aren't that patient. And credit to the whole team for not letting the game get away from them after going down 20-6.

Entertaining game start to finish. Dukes played a good game. He could have let that 2nd quarter get to him. His strong mental state and a good head coach kept him focused, and on a game plan that played to Dukes strengths rather than moving off script which might have buried them further. Huge confidence booster for the young QB and the team around him. Perfect time for a bye week. Heal up those starters who couldn't go, get Dukes 2 weeks of film time on Elks, coaches build an even better game plan, and see what they can do. Hopefully attendance bumps up as this is still a team we'll worth watching.

I had a great time at the stadium last night. Great to have football back.
Dukes was amazing last night. He has a calmness about him that will bring him lots of success.
Carey was fantastic, with over 100 yards from scrimmage. His yards per carry took a hit with a couple of losses late, but definitely no fault of his.
smooth receiver out to the backfield too, and he picked up the blitz very well.
Nice game for all the receivers that played, and hopefully Daniels is not too nicked up. Fabulous depth at the position.
As others have said, the dominance on both lines of scrimmage will take this team a long way.
On D, what can you do? I saw 1 major breakdown on the Fulgham TD. Everything else was either a good job by the Lions of finding the right spots in the zone, or just some major size differences receiver vs DB.
I may be getting a little ahead of myself, but this could very well be a Grey Cup preview.

Great poise by Dukes to recover from the fumbled 'scoop & score' and lead the team to a win.

Dukes seems like a very intelligent QB who will only get better with experience.
Last night showed that despite losing some key talent this off season the organization did a very good job in bringing in good players to replace them.
The D backfield looked a little rough at times yesterday but made some big plays when needed, they have the potential to become a very solid group once they get more familiarity with each other.

I think Dukes is a keeper!

Ya know... If you take the 30 seconds of madness away where we had a blown coverage and 3 Lions behind our defence for an easy score, and the play where Dukes was obviously being sacked but he tried to break the tackle and coughed up the easy fumble recovery TD...

We kinda destroyed them.
