Not only do we have the best 1-2 QB tandem in the country, I think we have the best QB development project too in Max Duggan. He is a blue-chipper with the perfect skillset, build and mentality for the CFL. I look forward to him hopefully contributing in 2026 by solving our multi-year short yardage suckage problem.
To me it looks like one of the best QB rooms in team history, but on the other hand I really hope we don’t get too many opportunities this year to see what a fine and competent backup Arbuckle is

I actually found Marshall Ferguson to be more objective when he was hosting the morning show on TSN 1150 while also serving as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats radio play-by-play announcer. Since moving into a larger role with TSN and contributing coverage of the Canadian Football League, I’ve noticed what feels like a more pronounced bias in his analysis—ironically, in a position where one might expect greater neutrality.

Amsoil Power Rankings have the Argos ranked 9th! Not sure where all this disrespect of Argo chances for next year is coming from. Marshall, doesn't think much of the Argo quarterback line up, 3 Down ranked Argos last in free agency moves, most so called experts seem to rate the Argos as a last place team.
With the additions of players like Pickett, Amos, Shepley, Holley, Hendrix , Shand and others, along with Kelly returning, this team could surprise all these pundits' prognostications. Maybe I'm being too optimistic but I feel the team could surprise everyone.

I completely understand skepticism about the Argos. The team won just five games, lost a couple of very important players, lost a (mostly) successful head coach, filled a few holes but not all of them, still has major question marks on the o-line, d-line and secondary, has a starting QB who won't have played a down in 18 months when the season starts, and has to play 12 games on the road including the first seven (three of them in distant time zones). Two of their divisional opponents have signed some big free agents, and the other is the defending division champ with much of its roster intact. Honestly, I'd be more surprised if pundits saw anything other than a ninth-place ranking at this point. I'm just hoping this year isn't a repeat of 2019, but there are more than a few parallels.

They could surprise.
I'm not surprised at their ranking in this power ranking, though.

Same thing every year, but it has only gotten worse since the Kelly incident. Listening to various CFL podcasts, reading articles on the league website, either the team basically gets ignored or there is always a cheapshot remark or two about the organization. I love being a fan of the team that people love to hate. As for this year, I'm not buying that it will be a bad year. Miller seems to have the right attitude regarding the schedule and yes, there are still some holes to fill, but the offseason isn't over yet.

Playing 2/3 of your games on the road in football is a major competitive disadvantage. Never been done or tried before, because its INSANE. Having said that they are poised to surprise to the upside providing;
1. The Kelly/Miller combo clicks and Kelly stays healthy
2. Additional holes are filled by new Argo braintrust via new American players and Canadian draft
I am not going to bet against them.

The Argos have improved their Canadian content even before the draft. Shepley, Shand, Kongba and Makonzo were good pickups.
Speaking of the draft , it isn't long before the Invitational Combine takes place. With that in mind and acknowledging we don't know what players will receive NFL interest and how they will perform in the combine/pro day, here is some speculation re players who MIGHT be good draft picks:
Bell (OT)--hard nose competitor and whose father once placed for the Argos
Henning (OT)--a 2023 U Sport H Back All Canadian and after only 2 years on the OL was an All Canadian at OT Inexperienced but with a huge ceiling.
Dyte (WR)--reasonable size and explosive moves but will need to impress in combine
Kettyle (WR)-- All Canadian in 2025 but also will need to impress in combine
Pene (Global) (DL)--a TE who has successfully converted to DL. Might still be in Patriot's camp if it were not for visa problem
An aside---will be interested to see how Soane Toia (DL) performs this year. Was highly rated Global player last year and chosen by Argos in the Global draft. Only 5'11" and 285 lbs but his game film is outstanding.
Others who have a far better knowledge of the talent in the upcoming draft, may have some better suggestions and thoughts.

I was speaking to a colleague the other day. He has ties/knowledge of USports & grass roots football down in Windsor. I asked him his opinion of the upcoming CFL draft. He said both NFL & CFL draft classes are weaker this year.

Your colleague may be right regarding the relative strength of the draft classes mainly due to the fact that players are staying in college longer down south due to NIL. However, the age and experience of the class will be higher, which could translate into players being able to adapt to the pros better than in past years.
