LOL! Hodge was pretty accurate with his rankings. Marshall F of CFL.ca ( aka the Anti Argos-Chad Kelly website) could learn something from him.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 4:20 pm Quarterback rooms ranked, Argonauts #2.

A lot of people are predicting the Argos to bust this year solely on the basis that they hate Chad Kelly and seeing him come back and play well will kill them inside.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 6:46 pmLOL! Argos should be ranked ahead of Hamilton, but #2 isn't bad.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 4:20 pm Quarterback rooms ranked, Argonauts #2.

Nick Arbuckle won a Grey Cup and helped guide the Argos to a victory in the Eastern Football Conference when Kelly went down fighting for a 1st Down. But Trey Ford he might...might do something similar some day...ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2026 2:31 pmArgos should be ranked ahead of Hamilton, but #2 isn't bad.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 4:20 pm Quarterback rooms ranked, Argonauts #2.

If Pinball is to be believed, it was Doxtater who asked for a raise.
If a teams know the Argos can't or won't renegotiate his contract and they will likely have to release him, they're not going to trade for him. Yeah, they could have let him hold out, but I don't know that it would have gotten them or him anywhere. I just don't think those tactics work as well as they did 40 years ago.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2026 8:28 pmIf Pinball is to be believed, it was Doxtater who asked for a raise.
General manager Pinball Clemons revealed on Wednesday that the decision was made due to financial reasons, as the once-highly touted draft pick wanted to renegotiate his contract and the team couldn’t accommodate that request.

If this is true, why would the team opt to release him and get nothing for him while making him available to sign with a rival? If he didn't like how much money he was being paid, or some other aspect of his contract, let him retire or hold out. I get that there can be ancillary benefits from being nice to players, but this makes no sense to me.
The way the Oline performed past season, where does Doxtator get off asking for a raise?ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2026 10:40 pmIf a teams know the Argos can't or won't renegotiate his contract and they will likely have to release him, they're not going to trade for him. Sorry, Ravi, I completely disagree.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2026 10:40 pm If a teams know the Argos can't or won't renegotiate his contract and they will likely have to release him, they're not going to trade for him. What Ravi is saying happens all the time though. How many trades have happened in the last few months?paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2026 9:11 amSorry, Ravi, I completely disagree.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2026 10:40 pm If a teams know the Argos can't or won't renegotiate his contract and they will likely have to release him, they're not going to trade for him. Why does him demanding to renegotiate mean the team "will likely have to release him"? If he doesn't like his contract and doesn't show up for camp, suspend him. If he shows up and causes problems, cut him then, and only then.
Why should the team care if him holding out doesn't get him anywhere? Mgmt's obligation is to the team, not to a player who reputedly demanded to renegotiate after playing one mediocre season. Forcing him to hold out if he didn't like his situation might not have got the team anywhere, but releasing him in plenty of time for a rival to sign him, with zero return to the Argos, definitely did not get the team anywhere. Managing your assets well is not an outmoded tactic.
