How well was Hunter playing before the accident? Not well at all is my distinct recollection. As for the others being on the bubble, yes, they should be. And yet there are fans who don't think o-line should be a draft priority.
SO, just what O-lineman do you see from this draft class that will be worth a high pick (and then ignoring other areas of serious need) who will come in and upgrade any of the Argos current O-linemen ?
I haven't the slightest idea. I don't watch or study draft prospects. I just know we have a number of NAT o-linemen who are either unproven or have proven (so far, at least) to be substandard. It's an area bordering on desperate need, IMO. If there are no o-lineman in the entire draft who are better than Bosse, at least, I'll be shocked.

I do have an idea, or at least an opinion; and while there may be a few outstanding O-linemen (other than the one or 2 guys who likely draw NFL interest) up this CFL draft class, I really don't think any of them have the resume or measureables to be seen as serious upgrades who would supplant current Argo Canadian O-lineman; though of course, that would have to be determined by real TC try-out competition. And the 2 who might fit the bill (Diouf (Carabins) & Vaccaro (Purdue/Manitoba) - are both natural, accomplished OGs - where, IMO, the current Argos O-line strength is now found - interior guys like Nicastro, Hunter (obviously better there than at OT), Shepley (could maybe get an OT shot?), Vandal (starting experience), and last year's draft pick Coakes. Now, if there was a real great OT type up this draft, I might say go there and maybe he could compete for a job and be better than former pick Dankwah there, but there is nobody that stands out as an OT, IMO.
OTOH - the Argos have zip at Canadian DT (maybe Shand gets tried there though) or running back, and are thin at receiver and DB depth.
Still, I will not be surprised at anything that comes out of the CFL draft; always good for some WTFs or laughs. The GOB clique's dim, limited or myopic view of Canadian talent, always finds a way to shine thru somehow.

As we all know the O-Line was terrible last year. Doxtater was a dubious “asset” at best. All Argo fans should be happy the Line is being overhauled for ‘26.
Agreed!

By that logic, let's also release Hunter, Vandal, Bosse and anyone else who underperformed (i.e. everyone except Nicaastro).
I think Hunter deserves the benefit of the doubt after a serious traffic accident injury messed up his season. As for the others, yes for sure they should all be on the bubble, just like Doxtater would have been, except that it’s highly unlikely any of THEM asked for a raise.
Doxtator exhausted every other option before signing with the Argos, takes big balls asking for a raise considering he didn’t exactly distinguish himself with his play last season.

With Hunter at LG and Shepley at RG, Doxtater would probably have been a backup. As a result he may have been asked to restructure his contract and if so, it looks like he refused. That is just a guess but probably not far from the truth.
If Pinball is to be believed, it was Doxtater who asked for a raise.
General manager Pinball Clemons revealed on Wednesday that the decision was made due to financial reasons, as the once-highly touted draft pick wanted to renegotiate his contract and the team couldn’t accommodate that request.
https://3downnation.com/2026/03/25/mont ... argonauts/
If this is true, why would the team opt to release him and get nothing for him while making him available to sign with a rival? If he didn't like how much money he was being paid, or some other aspect of his contract, let him retire or hold out. I get that there can be ancillary benefits from being nice to players, but this makes no sense to me.
Sounds like you’re questioning Pinball’s honesty?

Henning might be worth considering for the #2 selection by the Argos. It is a bit of a gamble since he only has 2 years experience on the OL but his athletic talent gives him a huge ceiling at OT. He may not be a day one starter but he does look like he could be a very good OT given a little time. My only concern is his potential might attract NFL attention.

Henning is a good prospect, with a lot of potential perhaps; but hardly a # 2 overall pick and especially for a team with way more (IMO) pressing needs.
Argos need at DT is hurt by a real weak draft class there (IMO again) - top guy Konga is most likely NFL bound; and the perhaps 2nd rated DT is A. Notice, with a decent but hardly shiny US college ball resume. Could take a later round pick on a lesser known DT (like Tenney (Laurier) and hope he shows something, but DT might be out for a 1st round pick. Receiver - a bunch of pretty decent prospects at least - might be wiser with the first rounder; or maybe one of the athletic DBs (and why have neither of the Argo DB picks from last draft been signed yet?)

I'm skeptical that this is the full story.

We must have at least three starting NATs, and at least two capable backups, on the o-line, and I'm not at all sure we have that. We don't need to have any starting NATs at DT, and even a capable backup NAT DT is not essential given how we have deployed INTs on the d-line in recent years. A decent NAT RB would be nice to have but again is not essential. One more roster-worthy NAT receiver is a must IMO.

Whatever the reason, better that the Doxtater thing happened now so the team can get someone in camp who wants to be here. If it means o-line becomes a higher priority in the draft, so be it.
