Which teams now would you see swapping their current #2 for Arbuckle ?
No teams. Nothing in what I wrote implies that any team would be in the market to trade, or trade for, any first- or second-string QB (possibly excepting Rourke, altho even that seems extremely doubtful to me). I am, er, clueless as to what point you are trying to make.

In Dinwiddie’s post game presser, he said Kelly has been cleared and wants to play next week. I think Dukes has played his way off the team, and Doege will be #3. At the very least, he’s a more competent short yardage guy, but I also like the way he’s not afraid to throw down field.
Dukes is a very cool guy. I hope if he gets cut, someone picks him up.
Doege definitely seems more suited to short-yardage than Dukes. Despite Kelly being cleared, I will be surprised if he dresses this week. I expect they will be super cautious in evaluating him when he returns to full practice. Hogie made it sound last night like Arbuckle is definitely starting on Friday.
I just don't get how you matter of factly dismiss the possibility of Dukes getting cut. Even if Kelly doesn't dress Friday, I think Doege has already shown more than Dukes. Dukes has not improved, in fact IMO has regressed and I think the staff knows that. That is why IMO, they gave him a quarter and a half last night for possibly one final look at him. Was he going into the wind in the first quarter? Sure, but both teams moved the ball into the wind the rest of the game.

Just FYI - this was a conversation about QB talent and Arbuckle in particular; Ravi's post seemed to say it's all about being deployed by smart coaching and that dumb coaching was the reason for some of Arbuckle's poor play in Ottawa and elsewhere. IF he is viewed as this excellent QB talent, wouldn't a bunch of CFL teams want the GC MVP on their team to compete for #1 or at least #2 ?

I would suggest that quarterbacking is quite deep currently in the CFL; arguably, the deepest it's been in years. I suspect BC would grab Arbuckle as a #2 in a heartbeat if they could. I was very down on Arbuckle a year ago at this time but he won me over again with his play during the season and postseason. Because every team is currently strong at the #1 position, nobody would trade for him to be their starter but he is a pretty solid backup QB who can start and win games for you.

You're just being argumentative. As I have said (now for the third time), every team has good starting QBs and backup QBs, so there is no trade market for QBs, period. Name me one CFL team that would make a trade pitch for ANY second-string QB.

Cutting a guy he's had, and developed, for two-plus years, and who held down the fort for half a season, in favour of a guy who's been here for half a minute would be way out of character for RD. Doege has definitely made things interesting, but as long as Kelly is not on the roster, I don't see Argos going with one experienced backup, one rookie and one guy who just showed up. Once Kelly's activated, it may well come down to Dukes vs. Doege, and may the best man win. But if you look at my original post, I said "at this point." Meaning not while Kelly is out. I stand by that. And might be proven wrong within minutes or hours when the cuts are announced.

I think Kelly is going to be activated for Friday to be honest. Cutting Dukes was the correct move. He was the worst of the QB’s in the scrimmage and the pre season. To be clear, I had no problem with your opinion, it was the fact you were so sure he would not be cut that I disagreed with.

I’d bet there’s a couple of teams that would love to get their hands on Cody Fajardo.

Happy to admit that I was wrong (obviously). I stand by my concern that if Kelly is on IR this wk, we are one hit away from going with a QB who has barely opened the playbook. If Kelly's activated and stays healthy, the concern goes away and we can stash Horn on IR for the season to develop him. To be fair, we had even less experience behind Kelly two years ago than we do behind Arbuckle now, and that worked out OK. But had Kelly got hurt that season, we were basically screwed. We're less vulnerable than that, at least. I'm intrigued to see what Doege can do on short-yardage, and he definitely is bigger and has a stronger arm than Dukes so if it came down to one or the other (as it surely must have), I can see why they did it, although I'd have preferred to give Doege a full camp plus a few months in the off-season to learn the playbook.
