He may be right to be quite Po'd, but he's the HC and that decision to kick-off deep to a dangerous returner like Alford with 30 some seconds left in the game is as dumb as it gets - look in the mirror pal; a line-drive grounder kick and even if the Riders get it back to their own 40 or something like that, then they still need a few plays to get in range for a struggling FG kicker. Foolish, and the HC can over-rule the ST coach there. Throwing a starting O-lineman under the bus ? (hey, you started him) = shades of Mr. Ed Hervey a few years back with the EE.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 11:52 pm I have never seen Ryan Dinwiddie as pissed off as he was in his post-game availability tonight. He also said there was a blatant block to the back on the winning kick return that he couldn't challenge (I believe it was #43 of the Riders). He was also upset with how his o-line was beaten up on the one yard line and was especially critical of a 280 pound guard; he doesn't know what this guard was up to in the off-season. I think he is referring to Vandal but I am not sure. He did praise the likes of Mital and Brissett though.

I have seen far too many squib kicks come back to haunt teams over the years. You have to kick that ball deep and have faith in your coverage teams. I have no problem with that call at all.OV Argo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 11:58 pmHe may be right to be quite Po'd, but he's the HC and that decision to kick-off deep to a dangerous returner like Alford with 30 some seconds left in the game is as dumb as it gets - look in the mirror pal; a line-drive grounder kick and even if the Riders get it back to their own 40 or something like that, then they still need a few plays to get in range for a struggling FG kicker. Not sure i've ever seen a line-drive grounder type kick returned for a TD in my history of watching the CFL - maybe has happened though' OTOH - dangerous returners like Alford or J. Grant do get to sometimes take back deep KOs for TDs. Eliminate the possibility = no brainer IMO, especially with 30 some seconds left in the game.

The Ticats lost a game in Ottawa last year because a squib kick in the last minute gave the Redblacks instant field position to win the game. I have seen that type of thing happen far more often than a player return a deep kickoff in the final minute for the winning TD.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 12:23 amArgoRavi wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 12:12 amI have seen far too many squib kicks come back to haunt teams over the years. That "Block" on Kenneth George Jr was one of the worst cheap shots I've seen in a long time. How that was a mere 10 yard penalty and not an ejection is lost on me. I believe Lanier went after that Receiver late in the game which resulted in a 15 yard infraction at a crucial time. Hopefully George is OK. Shane Ray was really being mouthy towards the rookie RT Ergle which resulted in Ray getting flagged. I think the Riders are a dirty team.
Again the opposition had good field position most of the night. I like this Chatfield kid. Not sure if it's wise to put Kelly out there behind this line. A bit concerned that they found a new way to lose tonight, which isn't the trademark of Coach Dinwiddie's teams.

There was no more sequence that has been more emblematic of the 2025 Argos so far then the defensive series when just after the Argos hade made it 24-21. There was a special teams misconduct penalty that gave the Roughriders 15 yards and some undisciplined play on defense which gave the Roughriders another 15 yards on a drive they eventually scored on.
The Argo bounce has not been helpful in 2025 so far.

I think that drive, in particular, pissed Dinwiddie off. Hergott took the first penalty on the ensuing kickoff and Paul mentioned on Twitter how upset Dinwiddie was with Hergott on the sidelines. Will wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:56 am There was no more sequence that has been more emblematic of the 2025 Argos so far then the defensive series when just after the Argos hade made it 24-21. one more point about last night's game...it felt really good to look to the south-end, and see that 2024 Champs banner flying proudly.
Argos please remember we are with you in good times AND bad times.

Maybe they should consider using Turner as the short yardage QB as he played the position at Hawaii. If they can’t overpower opposition then maybe using speed and quickness can help loosen up opposing defenses.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 11:52 pm I have never seen Ryan Dinwiddie as pissed off as he was in his post-game availability tonight.
