Hmm, I don't think that's right. The schedule at torontofc.ca shows that all those games are on the road. July 16 in Montreal, July 22 in New England, July 25 at DC, July 31 at New York City. First TFC home game back is Aug 15.

It's my understanding that FIFA controls the stadium right through the end of July (plus some time after to take everything apart.)
It is nonsensical that FIFA was granted control of the stadium for the entire month of July. It seems like the minute the Portugal-Croatia game was finished they started dismantling the temporary stands, which blows the argument that FIFA might need the field as a contingency.

I don't think we're ever going to know the full details of what the city and MLSE agreed to with FIFA, but it would probably make us all mad.

100% Dictator. If FIFA is not the most corrupt sporting organization on Earth, it is only second to the IOC. There is no way the Canadian or local Vancouver or Toronto economies recovered the tax dollars spent to host this event. All for a handful of games, none in round of 16. As a "host" cannot understand why Canada had to play in Houston vs. Morocco on Saturday and not in Vancouver or Toronto. And of course the Argos and FC displaced another month while stadium is not used.

The World Cup has had little overall impact on Toronto’s economy.
Any implied financial windfall was simply politicians trying to justify their idiotic spending.

...and now Rogers have bought the 25% of MLSE that Kilmer Group (Tanenbaum) owned to fully and completely own 100% of Toronto Sports. Kilmer received over $4 Billion for that 25%. Could Larry Tanenbaum be persuaded to buy the Argos away from Rogers?

He'll probably buy some English soccer team and be hated over there.

I hope not. He is quite old. I think the negative effect it would have if he bought it and passed away would be the worse thing that can happen. Now you’re looking at someone else buying it, and I would not have any confidence in that.

I’m happy with MLSE owning it and paying the bills.

Do they want to? Argo success has always benefited other media entities, but BELL was a co-owner and took responsibility for the team. Let's hope they value long term how CFL are trying to grow league revenue. A do nothing owner leaves this team with untapped potential when it deserves an Amar Doman owner. Is there somebody like that out there?

My point being a do nothing owner is better than no owner. I am of the belief that Nobody is stepping up to buy the team unless Bell wants back in.
