I think the terrible performance from the O-line revealed a sad truth about Chad Kelly: It’s crystal clear that he doesn’t have the foot speed and escapability that he had in ‘23, which makes it highly unlikely he can approach that level of excellence again. That’s life I suppose but it’s still a bummer.
I disagree with this. He moved around quite well to avoid the rush last night.
I agree, AV. I am not seeing what Rich is seeing.
He’s still got the best arm in the league. He still sees the field better than any other QB. He’s making better decisions as the season goes on. But I think it’s obvious he’s not moving as well as he did in ‘23.

It’s not obvious to me. He avoided a lot of would be sacks last night. Looks to me He’s just not as quick to take off with the ball, preferring to look down field instead.

Lamport wouldn't work because the team doesn't keep its gear there. They still don't have access to BMO or their locker room/facility, so it has to be Guelph for three more weeks.
Thanks. I figured it was something like that, but wasn’t sure. It is a shame and as I said, I think it’s catching up to them. You were right about that. I thought it would be more of a bonding thing, but didn’t realize a lot of the vets are commuting daily.

I don't know a lot about the ins and outs of line play, but on the first "whiff," it looked to my untrained eye like Cassar did precisely what he was expected to do -- if so, that sack is on the coaches and/or the scheme. As to why they are dressing two FBs, I imagine the primary reason is they don't have a NAT backup receiver who can be as useful as Parasalidis on special teams. The lack of a viable NAT receiver is a problem for sure.
Cassar let Kramdhi go right thur him on that block attempt and the result was a Kelly hit, fumble and turn-over, and even if his "assignment was to go out for a pass - that never happens - he should have sensed a free guy coming at his QB and picked him up.. How much has Parasaldis done for either the O or on STs ? And former Argo ST tackle leader Cassar has all of one ST tackle so far this year, so maybe his awesome work at fullback has distracted him some - oh well, return TDs can happen.
Argos dressed a former top U Sports receiver Tristan Ready already this season and Ulm was supposed to be practicing full out - so why can't one of them dress over an under-used or under-qualified "fullback" ? But maybe a former top college ball receiver is not "viable" if he's Canadian? Again - J. Grant pressed into receiver duty with Coxie ejected and then he ends up muffing a key missed FG opportunity; but i guess Parsalidis dressing was way more valuable.

Without seeing the team live, it's impossible to say how any guy (orher than the kickers, snapper, holder and returner) are doing on special teams. TV doesn't capture the full field. But we do know that only one guy makes the tackle, out of 12 on the field for every kick. Suggesting a guy isn't doing much on ST because he has made only one ST tackle is just plain silly.

That backup receiver you want dressed needs to be able to contribute on special teams.
By the way, Ulm is still on the 6-game injured list for another week.

Chad Kelly was quite honest about how hard this has been in his post-game interview last night. You can tell he's as frustrated as any of us by this ridiculous schedule. If the Argos can even win one of their next two, they will be in decent shape for the final 11 games.

A disappointing result in a game that was there for the taking. The defence, in spite of some shoddy tackling, played well enough for us to win the game. Once again, the running game is non-existent. As for Kelly's mobility, I don't think it's as good, although I feel there's a subtle difference.

A lot of CFL teams have had back-up receivers as key ST guys; like Ternowski for the Ticats now; and again - what has been the big, key ST contributions of the 2 Argo fullbacks this season?
Ulm was described as full at practice this week, no? A lot of CFL teams stash Canadians on injured list -cause gawd forbid if they ever had to dress more than the minimum on the game roster.

They should have stayed in Saskatchewan, as a base, to play Calgary and Winnipeg. Nobody can tell going back and forth was the best thing to do. Listen to the player comments about commuting from Toronto to Guelph, on top of this insane schedule. Hopefully they can salvage 1 more win next week. Beating BC will be tough flying out there again. They can then have a bye week and play at home and start the season for real.
I am not going to judge this coaching staff, players right now. They are doing something incredibly difficult and you can see the frustration, pain, building. They deserve support to get through this. I hope there is a good crowd on August 6.
