Sounds like Rasheed Bailey may have got the axe as well.
That would be a very odd move if it happened. Bailey has been quite productive this season.

Jeff Hamilton of the Winnipeg free press tweeted that he’s “hearing” Bailey had been released. I see nothing from the Argos or CFL.ca on this, which we all know doesn’t mean anything. I hope it’s not the case, but I can see them wanting to get Mital into the line up and to me, Polk has looked quite good whenever given an opportunity, so it really wouldn’t surprise me.
Update: it is now official.

Bailey has been one of the bright spots on the offence this year so far. Has played very well, and done all that has been asked of him. Surprised by this. They now have a very deep, healthy receiving corps now. They may go more Canadian there. Perhaps they were going to healthy scratch him, and he asked for his release, knowing other teams can certainly use him. Probably going back to Winnipeg with all of their injuries at receiver.

Perhaps they like Polk's potential over Bailey's salary. It's been difficult since the Edmonton game for any receiver to distinguish himself, but the move is a tad surprising I suppose given that, in theory, Kelly is due back shortly, which, in theory, should open up the passing game.

Looks like it is true, Bailey released by the Argonauts.

Some strange transactions ---they cut McFadden and kept Dennis and now re-sign McFadden and cut Dennis. Bailey was their big WR signing and most agree he brought more than just pass catching to the team. Did they try to put him on the PR and he refused? Granted Polk is younger and cheaper but it is still a questionable move. I wonder if they need the money for a potential new signing? Who knows!

Both Mital and Ungerer III came off the 6-game and I suppose there wasn't room for an extra American receiver. It was probably a choice between Polk and Bailey and Bailey became the odd man out, unfortunately.

Sorry to see us lose Bailey as he has looked strong so far this season. Some of the moves this season have indeed looked baffling.

My concern is they have not replaced some of the key people responsible for the depth of talent the Argos have had for years now. John Murphy is going to need help.

We won’t know if this is true until we get stronger QB play.
