Ok, maybe; but I ask again, was this the deal when the Raptors first existed - Leafs season tix buyers had to purchase Raptors tix as well ? And was there a big backlash or cry-babying from Leafs fans over this?

And if you force feed joe Q average or Ontario wannabe types pretty well anything, a whole bunch of them will buy and consume. That's what a lot of people just don't get IMO. A huge, heavy, continued marketing push to sell the CFL and the Argos in the GTA (including buying off much more media coverage) would pay big dividends, again, IMO. I doubt the current sect of marketing gurus out there now would have any clue about nor use for, such an idea though.

I've seen no proof that Leafs STHs were required to buy Raptors tickets ever. Maybe there was a discount offered at some price points but I bet that was about it. If anyone has proof of a "force," I hope they bring it forward.

I am having difficulty finding any articles on the internet. I thought I remembered reading back in the 90s that it was done. I have seen on the internet going back to 2010 questions on chat sites about this issue, but it may have been for premium seating only at that time.

I could have a look at my Newspapers.com subscription to see if the Star ever mentioned it. Hard to figure out a proper search query for it, though.

Steve Simmons giving what I would consider an accurate assessment of Edward Rogers and his track record as an owner.
I’m not overly enthused with one entity basically owning all Toronto sports franchises but here we sit.

Pretty scathing article. Thanks for sharing.

Of interest regarding the Argos;
He and his company own just about everything now. The Maple Leafs. The Raptors. The Jays. The Argos, for the time being. Toronto FC. Scotiabank Arena. You name it, Ed Rogers owns it.
Almost speaking like it’s a foregone conclusion that at some point Rogers will parcel them off to someone.

Michael Lansberg mentioned it many times on his morning show. He and his father have Leaf tickets. It started around 1998, when the Leafs bought the Raptors. It wasn’t all seats. Lower bowl and even upper green for a while. I’m not sure what year it ended, but the Raptors have a waiting list of their own now. A far cry from the days I would buy 300 level seats for $15 to watch Lebron and the Heat. In the Kijiji ticket days, I would often buy off a season seat holder who told me the same thing. He had no use for his Raps tickets. I would pay $100 to sit 7th row from the floor to see KD and Westbrook during their OKC days. Good times.
