It occurred to me very late the Chad Kelly incident, particularly the drawn out process of reinstating him, provided more exposure for the Argos than any ad campaign would have done.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 3:24 pm Going to be a solid crowd for sure. Anyone else surprised? Ottawa never draws like that here.

I don't know what's more surprising for me; the fact that the upper deck is being opened for a regular season game or that the opponent is Ottawa. I'm confident that the Double Blue will be victorious tomorrow and host the East Semi-Final. That being said, does anybody find it disrespectful to the Redblacks and their fans that the Argos are already selling tickets to the aforementioned game, even though they haven't clinched second place yet?Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 3:24 pm Going to be a solid crowd for sure. I can only imagine the crowds we could attract if the Argos actually had a business department.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 3:24 pm Going to be a solid crowd for sure. Best one of the year until November 2.

Games like this demonstrate the baseline Argos fans.
I once spoke with Bombers CEO Wade Miller in Winnipeg in 2017 about ticket sales. He said the additional effort required to sell 1,000 more tickets was enormous, but the long term benefits of getting the butts in the stands was worth it.
Bombers routinely sell out IG Stadium (or whatever they are calling it now). Their success doesn't hurt either.

I'm not taking issue with your basic point, but it's worth remembering that the Bombers do not have to compete with MLB, NBA and MLS franchises for entertainment dollars. The Blue Bombers are at about the same level of stature in Wpg as the Jets are -- kind of like the Argos were with the Leafs 50 years ago, before the pro sports market here exploded with new franchises and the influence of the NFL started growing.GreyCup1971 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 8:40 am

Fact is, the Argos have a demographic of some 5 million plus to draw from (and the Bombers have a fraction of that to sell to). The boring Blue Jays sell plenty of tickets still and it has zero to do with quality of the sport, league or team. The Laval Rouge & Or football team sells more Canadian football tickets than the Argos do.
That an Argo owner with some brains and a business plan cannot sell 20 K tickets every 2 weeks in football season, is IMO a pathetic embarrassment, going on how many years now ? CFL football was sold down the river in that part of the Canadian map, and that sell job was executed there way better than pretty well anywhere else in Canada. A sharp, smart, continued effort to recover that loss has just not been made.

Trying to fight down the anger that emerges when our short yardage package is rushing our franchise QB up the middle from shotgun on consecutive plays.

28-6 at half time. Kelly has just missed on a couple of deep throws or it would be even worse for Ottawa. Looking forward to seeing more of some of the rookies in the second half.
