Arbuckle has looked good passing in CFL past before - for the odd game or streak; but then reverts to terrible & dumb, especially in games that matter; he was playing against a porous, over-rated Chris Jones hand-picked secondary that have been gouged all season.

Neither of Arbuckle or Dukes is inspiring as a bona fide CFL #2 IMO, but at least Dukes has superior mobility and is younger with room to learn & improve. A smart GM might go out and sign several young QBs for TC, and then maybe neither of Arbuckle or Dukes even make the roster.

If Arbuckle had to start against the RedBlacks and Dru Brown at QB in the East Semi, I know which team I'd be betting on, sadly.
Who was talking about Arbuckle starting? I said he’s the perfect back up, not starter. Smart, team player who can give you the odd good start. Sounds like a perfect back up in today’s world of football.
I didn't say Arbuckle should be starting, just IF; all this dumping on Dukes in favor of trumpeting a proven average and at times really weak Arbuckle - cause he completed some passes in some appearances = I don't get it. Look at the entire body of CFL work including starts in games that mean something - like when he was the RedBlacks starter for most of a season.
After game 2, Dukes didn’t throw for 200 yards once. Teams had adjusted to the fact he can’t stretch the field. At least Arbuckle can do that. Dukes just doesn’t have the arm strength to be consistent in this league. That’s the major reason for my dumping on Dukes. As for his starts over the last couple of years. Bad Edmonton and Ottawa teams had a lot to do with that. He looked good in every relief appearance he made for Dukes this year. In fact, if he had entered those games a little earlier, Argos may have won 1 or 2 more games.

100%. It is not that Dukes is bad, but his limitations have been exposed, and teams adjusted defensively the more he played. And it is true that Arbuckle did not have great results, especially in Ottawa and Edmonton, but those were brutal teams. I was really happy when the Argos signed him during the pre-season, and I am still happy he is with the team. If Kelly goes down, I would take him in a heartbeat over Dukes.

Hopefully, he would be willing to return next year, even if to just be a backup. He has a young family and to be separated from them for the season must be hard, so whether it would be worth it (even money-wise) if he is not getting to play has to be taken into consideration.
